Default Roadster Roof...Cloth or Vinyl?

I remember reading something on this site about the material of the Roadster Top, but I can't find it. I ordered RAGGTOPP cleaner and protectant for "Fabric" now I think it's wrong.

Does anyone know for sure if the convertible top is Fabric/Cloth or Vinyl?

It's a cloth top. You'll be fine. I ordered the same stuff. Worked real well on my old Eclipse Spyder.

Thanks, Thesmoothdome. Just trying to find out for sure.

The 350ZR wasn't listed on the"RAGGTOPP" website so I clicked the last Nissan Convertible they has listed. It showed cloth. I ordered that. After receiving it I sent Wolfsteins.com an e-mail (they make the product) got the address off the box. They said that the 350ZR is VINYL.

I thought before I sent it back I'd check here since I always get pretty good advice.

They are wrong. You are right. Top is cloth. The stuff you ordered was correct. Be sure to not use a hard bristle brush. Use either non-lint rags or a very soft brush so as to not pull up the knapp in the fabric top.
By the way have you ever thought of joining the NJZClub? There are quite a few members from Pa. Check ou the websight at wwwnjzlub.com.

It is classified as cloth, but it is not your typical soft cloth top. It is treated with something on the outside surface. It gives it that weird look to the fibers, which also gives it that vinyl feel. It could also be some kind of a blend. But when you look at it from the inside, you can clearly tell it is a cloth fiber top.

Most upper line tops are 100% canvas, like the Eclipse Spyders and the Boxters, ours is a little something different.

Are there any threads on the care and feeding of the roadster top? Has anyone run their roadster *gasp* through a touchless car wash? Any danger there?

Check out Autotopia for tips about caring for the top. As for car washes, they'll never touch my Z. Zaino is my new best friend.

If you join the NJ Z Club I will no longer be the only 350z roadster there. We have quite a few 350's but as far as I know I am the only roadster. Meetings are 1st Sun. of ea. month near Bridgewater Mall on Route 206/202 just off of 287.

I was told by my dealership that it is a kind of cross between cloth/vinyl. I went with the Raggtopp for fabric & have had no problems (had the car since 8/7/03). I put mine through a true touchless car wash (NO brushes or sponges in it) several times a month for quick clean ups. No danger at all. I would NEVER run it through one with sponges or brushes, but I'm particular about the paint (nothing to do with the convertible). I tried Crystal Guard first, but switched to Klass, and have been VERY pleased with it. I wouldn't use anything but Klass, Blackfire, or Zaino on mine.
