Default 2005 350Z Nav door not working

Seems my Nav compartment door has a mind of its own. Most times it will not close all the way then it will not open or close at all. If the car sits for a while sometimes it will work fine again. Can I disconnect the motor and just open and close it manually or have it stay open all the time? What are my options here? thanks

Mine doesnt work so I leave it open all the time...problem solved. The newer 350 Z (I think 07-08) doesnt even have a Navi door. The dash is molded with a lip above the navi and there is no door.

Look at this link:

I'm fine with the door open all the time, but how do I accomplish this, because it is electronically controlled. What do I disconnect? Will the door stay up if I remove the motor power? I assume I have to remove the bezel plastic cover to get at the wiring?

I removed the cover and manipulated the door in the up position and then re-installed. When you remove the cover, the process should be fairly obvious. Alternatively, you could find a 06 and up cover without the door mechanism

Since I installed my new radio mine does not fit as tight as it did before. While I had the dash out I painted it, looked like there was some adjustments on the rear.
