I'm restoring a 350z convertible and recently installed a new soft top, however after getting the new soft top on it wouldn't latch but would be about 1/2 inch from closing. After trying to hold down the button to try to force it and putting the top up and down a few times it is now stuck like this. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you
It looks like you're stuck in step 7 of the closing operation where the storage lid closes and the 5th bow is stuck in the open position. It could be a number of things. If you were trying to force it down, you may have broken one of the detection switches which signals the 5th bow motor to operate. There is a 5th bow detection switch, an open storage lid detection switch, and a closed storage lid detection switch.
If the detection switch is not signaling that the storage lid is closed, the 5th bow motor will not operate in order to close the 5th bow.
I have attached a copy of the RF (roof) section of the FSM. It is a rather complicated process.
And then, once you are able to get the top fully closed, it needs to sit in the sun to allow the new top material to stretch. You should not operate it until the material has stretched out.
