Smile I FINALLY have my Roadster - Comments & Pics

I can’t believe that after many years of dreaming, and about 8 months of reading this forum, I finally have my first sports car. A beautiful, Chrome Silver Z Roadster. I must say the search for exactly what I wanted, and negotiating the deal, was more than exhausting. However, the main reason for this post is to thank you all for the enormous help you provided along the way.

I have had the Z for only 4 days, but I must say, I have not been disappointed. I have always appreciated initial comments by new Z owners, so I will relay a few of my own thoughts:

- First...what can I say...it’s a beautiful design.

- Build Date: 1/04

- I have been very impressed with the insulating quality of the top. In my short ownership, I have driven about 300 interstate miles through a few good size cities, and I must say the quietness inside has been a very pleasant surprise. I had hoped it would be this quiet, but I did have my doubts.

- The ride is quite nice, but it does remind you when an interstate is in need of repair. You feel every imperfection.

- I have only driven a few miles with the top down (today it hit 60 degrees for a few hours). I really enjoyed it, but am looking forward to 70+ degrees.

- I am no audio expert, but the Bose system sounds pretty darn good to me.

- My 6’4”, 195 lbs. frame fits the interior quite well.

- I spent much of the first two days putting on my first 4 coats of Zaino. Don’t lean on it, you will slip right off!

- And my extra long golf clubs fit in the trunk just fine.

I, with some hesitation, am posting a few photos. My hesitation is because it’s a straight off the truck Z. Nothing different than others posted. However, I have always enjoyed seeing your Zs along the way, and thought you might feel the same.

Enjoy! And thanks again!

Welcome to the ownership club . It's nice to be out of the waiting for my roadster club huh? The car is drop dead gorgeous. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I've kept the top down when it was 47 degrees in the morning out here and with the windows up and the heater on, my body didn't seem to mind. The only part of me that felt the wind at all was the top of my head. It's a very cool feeling.

Enjoy the car!

It's actually harder to drive in hot-sunny weather then it is in cold weather.

Enjoy...

Talking Congrats and welcome to the owners club

Wait until you drive your roadster with the top down on a warm / balmy night. Your going to love it, there's no other feeling like it !
I have had my 350ZR just over 6 months and I like it more and more every week!
This is the true test of an excellent car, if your happier with it one year later than its a winner. So far so good enjoy the ride get ready to mod and have fun!

Congratulations, i picked up a chrome silver roadster also about 4 weeks ago. It's great here in Southern California with the top down. All i can say is you'll love it and find every excuse to drive the car during break in. I hit 1200 miles after about 2 weeks.

I'm picking up my superblack roadster tomorrow I know how you feel, even tho mine is going to be bone stock, I'll be taking (and posting) plenty of pix. Tonight, looking at your pictures, all I can think is "tomorrow, that's going to be MY car." Congrats.

That Chrome Silver is beautiful. I may have to give up on Silverstone and go for the CS.

Ahh thats beautiful, very happy for you. Yea the Bose isn't bad, just lots of guys are real audiophiles. Just switching out the headunit does wonders but then you want more and more. I never tire of looking at other peoples Z pics, yours looks great!

Bose system? What Bose system? Well color me happy. I just checked mine and it has one too. I guess that I'll try it out one day, but for now I'll just keep on listening to the song of the VQ35.
Congrats on your purchase. As far as your car not being different than any others, it has one major mod so far. Your butt is in the drivers seat. The next big hump is controlling your right foot for the next 1200 miles while you break 'er in.

Rich is right:

Congrats on a great looking Roadster, you're gonna love it. You will never get tired of taking pictures. Do the mods to it slowly, learn as you go. I'm waiting to do performance mods after the breakin, only got 300 more miles to go, then exhaust.

I go topless 95% of time and really enjoyed that 43 degree morning with the seat heaters on and the heater blowing. Seat heaters seem to be working better after several uses.

Have a ball, send more pics as you upgrade.

Yea I've heard some say the seat heaters don't get hot enough. Mine feels like a campfire going on under my butt and lower back. There is no excuse for having the top up unless its raining..or snowing.

You can always tell who's got a new car by the top down low temperature syndrome. I too was guilty a couple times when it was sub-60.

Enjoy!

I've owned convertibles for the last 8 years or so. If I'm alone in the car, the top's nearly always down.

Congrats on the roadster. I absolutely love mine.
Got the convertible for me, and the BMW 330Ci Convertible for my wife. As soon as the weather warms up, we'll be investing in loads of sun screen and hair jel!

I've driven top down in the rain many times. The rain doesn't get in the car as long as you are traveling fast enough. Once you are at 40-50 mph, the wind currents pass over the car and loop in the back. That's why the windscreen keeps the turbulence in the passanger compartment to a minimum. A lot of times in the summer there are brief intense showers. I just keep on truckin and stay dry. I do get a lot of funny looks though. The only problem in the Z is that if you have the top and windows down in the rain, the water comes into the car off of the side of the windshield, so you have to keep the windows rolled up in the rain.
