Default 2004.5 roadster VIN #s

For the guys who have a 04 roadster with feathering, what are your VIN #s ?

I have read that the 2004.5 roadsters have a different suspension (euro style?), and thus no feathering.

My VIN is JN1AZ36A54T010817, according to the nissan tech page thats a 2004.5

I guess basically what I am after here, if your 2004 is feathering (or has other problems), is it a 2004, or 2004.5 model?

I have not seen feathering yet, but mine does have a rough idle, gas tank filler problems, and the gas tank cap not wanting to open when you hit the button.

From the Nissan tech website:

2004 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs up to D*4T160000,E*4T060000) (Roadster VINs from D*4T102001 to D*4T110000 & from A*4T002001 to A*4T010000)

2004.5 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs from D*4T160001, E*4T060001) ( Roadster VINs from D*4T110001, A*4T010001)

The five digits of my VIN are 11550.

Where is that Tech page you are talking about? nissanusa.com is a crap website.. I hate trying to find stuff on there.

BTW.. haven't had any feather issue, but I've only got about 1000 miles on it so far

I was told that all the 2004 models have the new suspension.

The 2004.5 have the knee pads, console pad, different drive seat(two adjusting ***** on the side instead of one.) Different top on the roadster.

What else? There must be alot more to warrant creating two different service manuals.

I would like to get my hands on both the 2004 and 2004.5 service manuals, or find a list detailing all the minor and major changes between them. Mine is a 2004, so I'm just a little curious about the newer 2004.5 differences. Wouldn't change anything though I love my Z

I have a 1/04 build. The new tops have a heavier double stitching. I am not certain what the "console pad" is refering to.

I have been told several times by NNA that the suspension system is different in 04 vs 03 models. However, when I called my dealers service dep't to find out what are the differences like parts #'s etc. he said he could not find any differences.

That was some time ago so perhaps there might be differences if as you say there are different service manuals.

The soft console I believe is in reference to the NAV door. It is in appearance only softer looking that the 03's.

The center console where the two cup holders are. This has a 1/4" or so padding on the 2004.5 models. On the 2003 - 2004 models it is flush with the rest of the console and has no padding on it.

I have a 1/04 built Roadster which has NO padding as described above.

It is not much of a padding. It should be slightly spongy, not a solid hard plastic. Even the Roadster and Coupe that they had displayed at our local auto show had the padding on them. I had my car serviced last week and they had a Roadster on the showroom floor that had the new padded center console as well.

With a build date like yours, you must have it. Or at least you should have it.

I've got a 01/04 build, Vin 13404 and it doesn't have two adjusting ***** on the seat, they're burnt orange if that makes a diff. What does everyone else have?

mine has it, (if what I am seeing is what you are talking about)

you are referring to the padding on top of the storage bin where the cupholders are ?

I only have one **** there too. I think it's because we have the BO with the ventilation.

Thank GOD!!! Thanks Mode101, you win the booby prize, you are correct. You may need to see a 2003 or early 2004 model to see the console without the padding to know that there is a difference.

I thought I saw a photo of the vent seats with two ***** but I could be mistaken.

The regular seats do have two, if you have the right VIN#'s. In the Owners Manual you will see a seat "A" and a seat "B", style of seat. One with "1" adjusting **** that adjust the front of the seat cushion only. The other style has "2" which adjusts both front and back of the seat cushion.
