Default tonneau cover Rubbing

I got my car back from the dealer for the tonneau cover scraping. I'm not. sure what adjustments the body shop made to ensure that it wouldn't rub again and so I have decided to have the 3M film applied to the edge of the tonneau cover. I talked with the guy who installed my clear bra and he told me that he had done other kinds of cars with similar rubbing problems and the 3M film worked good to protect the paint from rubbing. I am supposed to go next week to get it put on and I'm not putting the top down again until the film is applied. He told me he would do it materials and installation for $75.00. I have some of the 3M film myself but after looking at the tonneau cover I decided that I should let someone more experienced do the film application.

What is the build date on your roadster. Mine came with 3M film around the edge of the cover. My build date is 12/03 so it is a 2004.5

If you're talking about the cover rubbing on the hood, then you should be fine with the dealer fix. There was a TSB on it a while back. Basically, the cover wasn't sitting straight, so the dealer was instructed to remove a shim from one side or the other (details are foggy atm). I'm not sure I'd try the clear bra back there. All you'd be doing is allowing less room for the cover to move.

Did they repain the cover for you? If so, I think you've gotta wait a few months before installing the bra anyway. Gives you some time to see how it works.

Default 3M Film

The 3M film is so thin that it won't effect the movement of the tonneau cover.
