Default Roadtrip to Yosemite via HWY1 and beyond!!

I had a fantastic week in the roadster. On a whim I decided to stretch out her legs and go on a road trip. I started out on Ventura Hwy from Los Angeles until I hit Hwy 1 along the coast. I ran all the way past Carmel and Big Sur, never shifting before 5000 rpm as the fog laden coast whizzed by and the smell of salt air filled my lungs. For anyone not from CA, Hwy 1 or Pacific Coast Highway goes the length of the state entirely (for the most part) along some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. I stopped at a friends in Monterey for the night, then headed due east through oak filled golden hills and endless farm land. Soon the elevation began to climb and the oaks turned to pines and the road again began to twist. I was entering convertible nirvana. . . Yosemite. This time of year, all of the water falls gush out of control from 3000 foot granite monoliths. The road out of the park (Tioga Pass) still has snow on the ground. Numerous reflection lakes go by, the cold air doesn't bother you at all. . .simply turn up the heater. After driving through some of the most gorgeous top down terrain in the world, I finally had to make my way home through the Mojave desert. At this point, it was 117 degrees so the top was definately up. All told, a couple of days and 953 miles of great roadster fun!! Thanks for letting me share. . . plently of pictures to come!

Default Awesome trip

Maccamera,

Did pretty much the same drive about a year ago, unfortunately it was in a rental and not my Z. That is the perfect weekend drive for the roadster. Just got back from a similar 3 day weekend in Big Bend, TX. Different type trip, but pretty durn nice scenry.

Enjoy..... I do.

Nice pics Maccamera.... I like your PPW roadster too. That was my first color choice. They didnt have it. THey didn't have my second choice either (black). Ended up w/ CS. I still love my car though.

Those twisties around the red wood area is fun aint it!!!

I did a roadtrip from cali to vancuver area last summer and passed by the same stretch of PCH.

California dreaming. I have been around the world and you can't beat the natural beauty of CA. All tht diversity wrapped up in one state. It seems like it was created for moments like you described. 10 more days and I'll be there again but this time I will have a 2004 Roadster Touring SS 6 MT waiting to take me over the twisty Hwy f17 rom San Jose to Santa Cruz.

Thanks for sharing your feelings and the pics are awesome. Yosemite is my most favorite place in the whole world.

Default Sounds like fun.....

I'll be heading out that way in the roadster next week for ZCON. After ZCON gonna head up the west coast to the Bay Area to visit some friends then back down to Vegas then back home to Texas.

I'll definitley have to drive at least part of Hwy1 up to the bay area.

Maccamera, do you have clear bra on your car? See a lot of dead bugs on your bumper ...
