Default Latching Top

I must be getting Alzheimer's because I have a problem in remembering to latch the top down after lowering it. I have done this more than once and today was the kicker. I lowered the top so I could wash the car and started to spray it when I noticed that I hadn't locked down the latch!! Some water got inside inside but not a whole lot but I sure felt stupid.

Anyone else who forgets about this final step in lowering the top?

Also, one morning I went to my baby and found the top not secure because I hadn't latched it!!!

ouch...you're getting old! LOL nah, I have to think about sometimes, too.

i bulit an alarm that has an infrared sensor for the tophandle. it senses the heat bulid up of your hand on the latch. it also has a fingerprint detector so only YOU can open the top.

the mod is for sale on my web site for $2399.

JUST KIDDING!!!!

heh heh

i dont know. i raise and lower the top so often, that it is an unconscious habit already to secure the latch. havent forgotten yet.

maybe now that you got water in your car you will remember to latch it.

anyways, good luck with that.

you know what's real dumb, is sometimes I wonder if I am opening and closing it TOO MUCH...

i always put the top down as much as possible - what's the point of having a rag top if you don't use it.

however, i do NOT leave it down for extended periods of time (per the manual) after getting out of the car. i always store it in the UP position...suppose that is for integrity of the cloth...

Hahaha, you too? Thought I was the only one who forgets. I remember sitting there thinking Nissan got to make a better car, stupid top already died and won’t open, the car still smelled new. Turned out to be UBD – User Brain Dead.

I try to keep the top down no more than 3 or 4 days at a time. Don't know what will last longer - the top being stored for long period, or the mechanical parts for the top.

On another note, when I close the top, I typically wait till everything finish moving, then lock the latch. Lately, I have to push harder to get the latch to lock. Any one experienced this? So I now lock the latch just before the car pulls down the hook at the back of the top.

Not me, but I have forgotten to UNLATCH it a couple of times. I found the top doesn't work as well when you forget THAT...

i have also perfected my technique of touching the brake just enough to let the top move, so i can start pulling away while the top is moving...HAHAHA (just don't go too fast!)

I haven't forgotten to latch the top, but on several occasions, after I latch the top I get out of the car, or have attempted to drive, only to discover that the top hasn't been completely stowed and the cover is still open!

Yeah, I've forgotton to unlatch it once. It was on the 3rd or 4th day after I bought the car. The 1st thing that crossed my mind was that I didn't want to have to take it to the dealer. I'm glad it was just user error.

Ditto to just about all the above. Sometimes I get a little excited and forget a few important steps.
