Question alot of heat

i know i have the heat warmers off, but it feels like they are on. i've been noticing alot of heat coming from down below where the pedals are. does anyone else have the same issue? i usually turn on the AC at my feet to help, but i feel like i shouldn't have to do that.

Yes, it is hot down there. Usually, with top down, I turn off the fan and close the vents on the panel. Occaisionally, when really warm (like this weekend...95 in the sun), I'll run ac with the top down, directing the air downward just to get some cool breeze flowing around. Once you get moving though, I don't notice it as much...it's the sitting in traffic in mid day sun and 90+ degrees that isn't too much fun (grin).

I have been noticing that also on hot days. I too have been turning the A/C on on hot days to circulate some air. That seems to help.

Default A lot of people are experiencing this. Here's what I think......

I think the airflow patterns with the top down are creating some kind of "air pocket" within the car. I've tried to feel for hot air coming from somewhere and I can't seem to pinpoint a source. The airflow thing is all I can think of.

I seem to feel heat coming from underneath the car.
When stopped at a light, with the top down, hang your arm over the side of the door and see if you can feel heat wafting up. I can.

When I first got my touring Z back in August 03, I had the same problem, and it seems I have the same problem with new roadster. It stops after certain amout of mileage, which I cannot recall. Having too much fun. It may be the same as the roadster when it breaks in time.

Yes, it is hot. We feel more of it because it is summer. But I don't understand why the heat would stop after some mileage?

Default possibility?

does it seem like it could be coming from the transmission? that's the general area from where it feels like it is coming.

You are right TheZeffect, just checked when I got home. The warmest area is around the center console, not directly under the seat. In theory, it should be cooler in the cabin if we put insulation under the carpet around that area. Anyone done that?

Or, if anyone has pulled the factory insulation out, does the cabin get warmer?

Just curious how may mileage do you have on your ZR elyliu? I made a statement earlier in the thread that after the break-in period, it would stop heating up. This was in my 03 DB coupe. I had the same problem the heat coming from the bottom center of the console. I have the same problem in the roadster as well.

it's just warmth from all the moving parts down below your car, exhaust, drivetrain, tranny, etc...unlike most cars sports cars are always build close and tight to the plumbing downstairs...you know for handling and stuff...my friends boxster s is notorious for heating up the cabin...perfectly normal...just drop the top and go whisk out the hot stuff...

actually that heat stays around even w/ the top is down....somehow the heat gets trapped down there....

well i haven't had it for a while now, I currently have 7400 miles. But it's safe to say I haven't felt it for 2-3k miles now....

Default i guess i'll wait it out

yeah, i have about 2.8K miles on my roadster. oddly enough, the heat actually seems to be worse with the top down. i'm going to go out on a limb and attribute that mostly to the 95 degree weather we have down here. i'll see how it gets in the winter time and as the mileage increases.

The Coupe has the same issue. There have been threads on other message boards about this. Most believe the motor is heating up the firewall.

The heat seems to be normal for the Z.
