Am Selling MY 04.5 SB ZR to buy 05 SB Grand Touring ZR

Price for Grand Touring Roadster to be known Nov 02, 04
(Jan 05 Availability) GT ZR MSRP Price not yet known...
Planning on trading or selling ZR for Super Black Grand Touring.

Someone is going to get an extremly well kept, well loved ZR!

Various Pictures of MY ZR are at this prior thread link:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthr...&threadid=86170

The Grand Touring is to be the Roadster version of the 35th Anniversary Z, and that 05 production ZR is the Z I intend to keep in my stable forever... Yes, I Am fully aware of all costs (and loss) involved before I posted. However, Plan to own (and always keep) the Grand Touring ZR regardless.

Yes, I am quite aware I could simply modify my current ZR...

The end result of doing that (although much less costly I know) is not the same as far as I am concerned. My intention is to order an 05 SB GT ZR with All the available stock options and with Net seats (just like mine has) and NOT make any modifications to it OTHER then installing a JWT Popcharger in my future car (Grand Touring ZR) like my car has (which can easily be reversed if desired later on). I then hope to keep that Anniversary ZR Model in it's 'stock' pristine condition for many many years to come... Perhaps 20 years from now it will be apparent why I was willing to absorb the costs in 2005 to switch ZR's.

I 'might' have waited for the Grand Touring 05 ZR release if I had a working crystal ball at the time.... (ball was in the repair shop back on March 20th). But I would have missed a ton of fun, so no regrets here!

Should learn of GT ZR pricing on Nov 2, 04 (or soon after).
Not too long to wait now to place my 05 GT SB ZR order...

I don't know how the LAWS are in your town but.

In IL if you trade in a car you get a tax credit.

So...
NO TRADE IN MATH

35000= price of new car.
2450 = taxes 7% of 35000
----------
37450 OTD
-34000 SELLING YOU CAR
-----------
3450 CASH DIFFERENCE

--------------------------
trade in math

35000
-32000 trade in
-------
3000
taxes on 3000, not 35000
210 =taxes 3000 * 7

3210 = cahs difference.

with 2000 less trade, you're actually better off due to tax savings.

This is based on IL law, and I think it's like that in most states.

Still waiting to learn 05 GT ZR pricing.

Spoke with local dealer a few times..., although the 35th coupe info was released (I have already posted nissan info in a '35th anniversary' post already on Nov 2nd), dealer still does not yet know the Grand Touring ZR MSRP.

Would like to know before I officially advertise my 04.5 ZR for sale (have only mentioned my plan/reasoning for selling my baby on this forum so far). Hope I do not have to wait until January for GT ZR pricing...

What Nissan has released so far:

The 35th Anniversary Z® includes unique 18-inch cast aluminum-alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, Brembo® brakes and special Z® badging. It is offered in just three colors – Ultra Yellow, Super Black and Silverstone. The 35th Anniversary Z® is also available with unique, optional black-and-tan leather-appointed seats (except with the Ultra Yellow exterior).

The new 35th Anniversary model, like all 2005 350Z models, also receives a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), heated outside mirrors, wider view side mirrors and front seat lifter. Automatic transmission equipped models are now outfitted with downshift rev matching for smoother shifting, and manual transmission models now come with reduced clutch pedal effort for easier operation. The optional navigation system (available on 35th Anniversary and Touring models only) now has a faster system processor.

The 2005 350Z Roadster is offered in Enthusiast, Touring and Grand Touring models. The Grand Touring, offered for the first time in 2005, includes standard Brembo brakes, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and 18-inch wheels and tires.

More information about the 2005 350Z and a special section of “35 Days of the Z®” is available at www.nissannews.com.

Default Re: Selling 04.5 SB ZR to buy 05 SB Grand Touring ZR

12/31/04 and ticking...

First:
Happy New Year to all 350Z members!

Second:
Confirmed yesterday that the Grand Touring Z Roadster will NOT be available as an automatic... which nix's my trade plans since the wife cannot (safely) drive a stick. Really had my heart set on the Grand Touring Roadster, however I still love my 04 SB baby and in a way actually feel good about not letting her go (to have made that GT ZR switch).

So, looks like the mod bug has bit me bad and will start checking out brakes/rotors conversions w/new style rims (thinking black... and do like another members recent great pics/choice). Perhaps the hood and a dual exhaust will follow the wheels.

From what I have read here, once you start down the mod path, it will be hard to stop...

2004 has been a ZR blast, look forward to 2005!

Not True the Grand Touring Z Roadster well be available with the optional 5 speed automatic transmission. I have in my hands the 2005 NissanZ Selection guide that has the Grand Touring Z Roadster listed. Under drivetrain it list (optional 5 speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode {ENTH,TOUR,35th,GRAND}). What is not available is the curb weight for the GRAND with the automatic transmission. I waiting for a ZR GT Auto in SS with Nav.

Then the local MD Passport dealer I visited yesterday is full of ____. Had looked into it prior myself and clearly saw Auto was an option, then they brought up their on-line order screen yesterday and told me an AUTO Trans was Not selectable on the GT ZR. Jeeezzzz, you would think they would know what they are selling!

This is the second dealer this week that claimed no Auto Option!
Looks like I will be heading to another better informed dealer in January. Thanks!

My local dealer keep calling the GT a 35th anniv. Roadster. I keep telling them the GT is a trim package not a limited 35th anniv. I think that dealers are thinking and telling people that the GT is some type of limited edition Z when it's just a trim package. My dealer has alot of ZR's in stock and had there Z specialist meet with me and he had to call Nissan because they still have no listing on there system to order the GT. Nissan said that there is no ordering for the first few months as the GT is on allocation. So my dealer is getting a few of them and said that they would trade if they need to get me the right one. It could be a few more weeks till they come in, they only know whats coming in two weeks out. It's looks like the middle of Jan. till we see the GT's.

Looks like I will have to wait some more to pursue the GT ZR. Would like to get mine in the pipeline soon as I have knee surgery to deal with on the 13th. Hope to get my deal rolling before I am laid up for awhile, so my new ZR will be ready to roll when I am...

Seems the dealers have little info and it may be quite a wait for a GT ZR. Will head to a dealer this week to see what they can do...

Proving once again that to be a car salesman, intellegence is not a requirement......I'll bet they're telling people that the "GT Roadster" will be available as a coupe also......LOL

I think they don't know because Nissan hasn't given them any info on it. Besides, they can't sell it yet anyway so thats probaly why they are not looking in to it. They probaly get calls all the time and people don't deliver. But who knows, most of them don't bother to look up info on it unless they are an enthusiast!

Hi Randy.....Great points.......I grew up in Bethesda.....Funny thing is, years ago I sold cars,(not many, might I add), because I'm not a slam dunk closer.....but you would'nt believe what most salesmens' pitches were.....Things like; emissions or fuelage when say a wife only cared for a certain color, and the husband just wanted room enough to haul stuff.......(just one of unlimited examples)....seems to me that most car salesman, and saleswomen, don't read into, or take the time to find out a buyer's needs, or wants........In the end , most the "snakes" were the top salesman.....O.K. I'm ready for the counter-attack from all car salesmen.....
