Default 350Z or S2000?

I found a 2003 nismo 350Z with 25,000 miles on it selling for 21,000. the Z can be a monster of a car with the right work, but i still love the S2000...which is the better buy?

Its YOUR CHOICE! That being said, go for the S2k so there will be less Zs around .

I agree, I just finished debating over what I should buy a few weeks ago. Man am I happy I chose the Z. The S2000 is really small and there are things that just didn't do it for me like:

Digital dashboard
NO tilt steering wheel
Lacking power until Vtec kicked in

After driving the Z, I was sure I wanted the Z instead. Much more fun to drive. Try them both in person and you will know from the drive which one you want.

i happen to own both cars. 06z and 03s. They are totally different beasts and both will reward you equally...just in different ways. S2k is more of a raw sports car and the Z has more feel of a GT car. Z has lots of low end grunt and the S has screaming high end pull. Z is quite a bit heavier and feels stable at high speeds, S is light and has razor sharp, go-kart-like handling. Two completely different machines both with their own pros and cons. The only way you'll know which one is right for you: Testdrive them both and testdrive them a LOT. You won't know by driving 10 minutes.

when i test drove an s2k before getting the Z i felt too clausterphobic in the cabin and im only about 5'11 or 6'0. I thought the interior was boring and 162 ft lbs just didn't cut it. But there are too many Zs out there as it is, especially in cali so get the S2k

I completely agree with the comments above. I had an S2 for 4 years and just traded it in for a Z 30 days ago. My 2 cents -- Put me on a track, and I'll take the S2 for its rawness, razor sharp handling, etc., hands down. But for every day driving, I'll take the Z. It's just more car, overall, IMHO.

Here's a practical example: passing people on the interstate. With the S2, I had to really plan my overtaking, esp. if traffic was moderate to heavy. This is because of its lack of low-end torque. I got in the habit of dropping from 6th gear directly into 4th, which was necessary to get the rpm up where it needed to be. It always made me nervous though -- had to blip the throttle just right, and there was always the risk of accidentally dropping it into 2nd instead of 4th, which would have been catastrophic. With the Z, I just stomp and go. At most I might have to drop down to 5th, depending on my speed. It's that instantaneous, always on-hand torque that makes the Z better for real-life, every day driving. Plus there's more storage room, Homelink, etc.

S2000's should win most of the time (assuming both are good drivers and stick)

wrong. Stock for stock magazines have rated the Z a hair faster than the S2k, so i dont know how you say the S2k should win MOST of the time.
