Default MPG - Im Impressed.

So i usually just drive the Z around town and stuff and get horrible MPG... never taken it on a long trip.

So i was going to Lake of the Ozarks this weekend from St.Louis which is a good 160ish miles away.

I was very impressed of how the car drove and the MPG i got.

i averaged any where between 24.6 to 28.2 MPG.

I just wanted to say that im very happy with the car

My Z gets amazing gas mileage ... maybe I drive a lot on the highway, I don't know .... But for a car that delivers such raw performance, I def think our cars MPG is AWESOME

Oh yea, 6th gear is your friend

has this been proven by anyone other than those in the forum who post what they think they get?

Have you gotten 35+ mpg? If so, how did you measure that?

That number seems very high for a car rated as high as 25mpg.

+1.
I never drive 55 in 6th. Way too much lugging. I'm barely in 5th at 55. If you're driving on any kinds of hills, 55 in 6th would be nasty.

its not even the slow speed in 6th gear, but I find it very hard to believe almost 700 miles to a tank if the person thinks they are getting 35 miles to the gallon on the highway.

On flat land in a stock Z, 35mph is plenty for 6th gear. No lugging.

ive got a question which might not make sense at all but ill ask anyway:

if you have an exhaust leak somewhere, is there ANY chance you might see an increase in MPG?

the reason i ask if because lately ive been hearing a slight hissing noise. I was on the highway today for the first time since i noticed the hissing and i got exactly 35.3 MPG. Ive never gotten that high before. Any chance?

hmm or maybe it was the weather? i was almost 90 here today and very humid

59-60 mph i get 30 mpg. 55 is too slow for me, it very well maybe 35+ mpg.

I have been on some 900 mile trips and I can tell you 35 MPG ain't gonna fly. Granted I was able to squeek out 27 - 28 doing 80 MPH, I can get higher mileage if I am going with the wind, but then the trip back takes it way back down. So it usually averages around 28 on the highway.

I have dropped the speed down to 60 just to see and the trip computer didn't really seem to increase the MPG and I wasn't about to drive a whole tank at that speed, I would get a moped if I wanted to drive 55.

35mph... You can get better gas mileage in 4th or 5th gear rather than 6th.
