Question 2009 370z with Nav : DVD / Video or not ?

Hi all,

I would like to buy a used 2009 370z 6MT with sport package and navigation, the seller told me that there is an RCA / iPod connector in the armrest, but does not know if the navigation is DVD Video / Multimedia compatible.

I cannot check the car by myself, so what were the different options available for the 370z concerning the nav ? Do you think the 2009 has video capabilities / DVD ? (I think so, because of the RCA, but i would like to have confirmation from owners of 2009 model).

Thanks.

From what I have read you can play DVD's and movies from your Ipod but the car must be stationary with the emergency brake applied.

Some people have rigged a way to watch movies while moving from the Ipod but its on the 370z forum.

You know I have no Idea, I have seen the RCA connection, but I thought that was for connecting a DVD player.

An RCA connection is an RCA connection. You could hook any video source up to it, it can't tell the difference nor would it care. The only Z's I have experience with have been full on track cars so I can't speak on whether or not the car can be moving while video is playing, but there is a Federal mandate stating that no video is allowed to be visible to the driver while a car is in motion.

Most aftermarket DVD players use the handbrake as a means to verify the vehicle being stopped.

I have heard that as well. I think what most do is put up the E-Brake one click to where it is not engaged but the car thinks it is.

There's another way to do it.

All the switch on the handbrake does is ground a wire. There's ways to achieve this without having to pull the e-brake up and have the brake light on in the cluster.
