Hello all, I'm new to the forum but I've been an owner of a Infiniti G35 Sedan 6MT for the past 3 years and have loved the car. I'm now looking to step it up to a 370Z as I'm getting a little more serious into track days and auto-cross.

The 370Z with the sport package looks like an awesome deal with the limited slip differential and massive brakes and is a nice familiar platform for me.

The 19" wheels also look beautiful on the car but in a racing environment the tires are going to get very expensive. If I get an extra set of 18" wheels for racing I could save some money over the course of a year. Does anyone know of 18" wheels will clear the brake calipers on the 370Z with the sport package? The brakes are 14", about 2" larger than stock. I'm afraid that once you add the caliper width into the equation that 18" wheels might not clear!

Has anyone tried this? Anyone here racing or auto-crossing 370Z's yet? I've seen a few folks here racing 350Z.

Some 18s will fit, some wont. Its a tight fit, so it will come down to the inner hoop dimensions.

As long as I can find some wheels that fit I'm good with that, I really don't care how pretty they are for racing as they get coated in brake dust pretty quickly.

 

I'd say width/offset and spoke design will play a part it in as well. What SinCity350Z mentioned will be the factor of if the caliper will fit inside (vertically speaking if looking at the wheel directly head-on, you also have to worry about if the caliper will fit horizontally as if you were looking at the front of the tire head-on. Living in 3D, it's a B.

I don't have a 370z nor have I researched much about them, just thought I should throw that out there. Caliper clearance goes two ways.

 

True. I don't think the 4-piston calipers are much thicker, but at least if there is a clearance issue in that direction you can always move the wheels out a hair with a 1/4" wheel spacer.

 

the stock 18" 370z wheels WILL fit over the akabono brakes

 

They do fit, I swapped my stock 18s for the sport 19s, they fit over his akebono with a little extra space..

 

Whew ... That's good news .. I was thinking the same thing. However, it would be nice to stay with lightweight Rays.
