Talking Front Grille Installation (pics)

I just installed my new front grille on my roadster. I was really disappointed with the brackets provided with it. The grille is supposed to be attached with some tex screws to the plastic scoops on both side of the bumper, and those plastic scoops are affixed to the car using plastic clips!
Instead, with the help of a friend, I designed some aluminum brackets, that were powder coated in black to blend with the rest of the hardware. The custom made brackets bolts, on the top, to the aluminum stud of the car and, on the bottom, to the bumper. The installation was a bit tricky but the result is really nice. The attachment feels really solid and strong.
You can check some pix of the installation here:

Looks real clean (though I wouldnt have gone with horizontal grill, I'm a mesh guy). Two questions:

1. What are you gonna do if you need to be towed? Looks liek grill is in the way.

2. How far in would a mesh be if I cut the plastic out like you did, and fit it flush to the inners of the bumper? Just curious, because I think I'm gonna have to be the first guy on the forum to do this... I've never seen it yet.

If the car need to be towed, the grille can be removed (4 bolts)...not too easy but it's removable.

I'm not sure I got your question right, but basically, you can push your grille in until it touched the tow hook nut.

Thumbs up Front Grille

If anyone is out there looking for a "Z" grille, check out this website:

www.mrgrille.com

He sells a really nice stainless grille that fits right over the stock grille and is attached with black zip ties. The ties fit down in between the grille ribs and you can't see them when installed.

As you can see from his (Daking's) grill, he has poor taste. So just disregard his comment. Yours looks good, not my exact taste, but good none-the-less.

People should grow up and not offer negative criticism with no explanation.

How about this one..."If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

Default Marilyns grille

I put the same grille in Marilyn about 8 mos. ago and it has been well received by others that see it. But, I got it for my own pleasure and how it looks/feels to me and I like it!

Regards, Jim

I like it alot! If some one does not, f**k em!

and i just can't believe someone will actually make a grill change themselves and then state (in less than a nice way) that he dislikes yours. i just don't get it...

to each his own.

It's painfully obvious that JimH does some kind of photo alterations on the pics he takes... his car just looks "too" good...lol...
