Default New Head Unit and retain fact. nav. voice?

I'm debating replacing my Bose Head unit but want to preserve the factory navigation voice commands. Is this possible and does anyone know how to?

There's a write up on it somewhere on this site but it's way beyond my DIY skill level. If you find an easier way or a deck that supports it let me know.

Thanks. Surprised no one has toto do a search. I have but can't find it.

If I do figure it out I'll post it up here.

The simple truth is money. The OEM Nav unit works fine for my needs.

I've done this with great success. I have hooked up a separate speaker (Alpine SBS-0715) hidden underneath my dash just for the voice guidance from my '03 OEM navigation system.

Here are the threads that I used somewhat to configure my setup:

Good Luck.

For a vehicle already equipped with OEM navigation how is it easier to rip out the entire system or what sense does it make to have it and use something else when a simple amplified speaker achieves your desired goal?

I had the same issue and decided to just go without the voice.
