Default grills

Speaking of grills. Has anyone used something that didn't come with the sub?

Yes, and it was another set from the same store. The 3 black bars grill .. for my roommate.

I'll probably use standoffs and a normal grill, or if I'm feeling spendy I'll get some custom plexi.

What is the point of installing grills? My opionion they take away from the look of the sub and when you pay a grip for the speakers kinda want to show them off IMO

My 12" sub is IN the center of the trunk floor facing directly up and flush. If I don't protect it, things I carry back there would scratch or puncture it.

I don't think showing them off is that important. Most boneheads out there have no idea what Image Dynamics, Resonant Engineering, Adire Audio, TC Sounds, Elemental Designs, etc. are.

Protecting your $ is more important than flashing it.

Even if you had the under the bar box facing rear .. I wouldn't want stuff to roll into or thru the sub anyways. That's part of the reason I'm giving serious thought to facing it forward .. no grill needed, will never get damaged.
