CD Recievers that play DVD w/out a monitor??
I've been looking at different options for installing a 7" monitor (like a Farenheit) in my NAV compartment, but not sure what to use for playing video. Xbox seems like it would be cool, but reaching around the passenger seat to put in a DVD or play a game isn't really what i want, and using an FM modulator using the crappy stock radio also doesn't do it for me.
So my question is - is there a decently priced (around $400) DIN unit that will play DVD, CD, & AM/FM without a motorized monitor that i could use and hook up to a monitor in the nav cubby?? So basically just a normal stereo -that also plays DVD format with a video output.
I see the pioneer DVH-P7000 does all I want, but the price is a little steep, anything similar to it out there for a decent price?

Retails for $550ish. I havent had any experience with these units, so i dont know how it sounds. I do run Savv monitors and the quality on those are pretty good.

You may also want to look into the Rockford Fosgate RAVDVD1

I used to have one before I got my Kenwood DDX7015
The only problem with the RF one is that it doesn't have an internal amp, you need a separate amp to power the speakers. It actually has one built in, but only for the center channel. I liked it alot, especially that it has a built in dobly decoder. I actually still have mine, and would sell it cheap if you wanted it.

Thanks alot guys for the info. ...and ECKZLNT, I may be getting a gift certificate for my birthday to buy a stereo with, but if not you'll definitely be getting a PM soon for your Rockford. or maybe i'll use the certificate for replacement speakers and a small amp, hmmm. i'll let u know.
I have a Panasonic in mine, I know the name doesnt sound like top quality, but I have no problems, does my sub, powers my stock speakers nicely, plays DVD's all types of CD CDR's, even mp3. I got mine for about $500, But to each his own, this works great for me.
