Question Those with Bose HU and upgrades please help.

I searched but there are too many threads to read through to find out what I want to know.

I am thinking of upgrading but want to keep the stock stealth look. I want it to sound really good not great.

If you have the stock BOSE HU and have upgraded your speakers, amps, sub IN Stock locations please help me.

1. Are you happy with your system?

2. Please list components and rough total price.

thanks

Two different installers (one was Car Toys) said a special kit would be required to mix and match Bose components with others. For some reason Bose just does not play well with others.

The integration kit was $150 and they indicated the install would be complicated and add a couple hours to the job. Personally, I thought it made more sense to upgrade everything to non-Bose instead if spending several hundred dollars to mix and match.

Thanks, I am aware of the compatability issues but just wanted to keep the stock look and 6 changer.

Has anyone out there done this with an acceptable outcome?

I was recently facing the same dilemma...it is cheaper and easier to just start with a clean slate and replace it all!

See my sig for components. Do not use the stock Sub location. I did a custom enclosure under the strut brace. The improvement is unbelievable. I will be replacing the HU in the future though.

You CAN use the stock headunit with your aftermarket speakers, subs, etc. You'll need one of the Audiolink PowerDriver PD4 to help ya out. I plan on keeping my stock headunit and pretty much upgrading everything else also.

Exactly what I did and it does sound awesome. My problem with the factory HU is that it doesn't allow the incorporation of my after market Nav's audio so it won't mute my music for voice commands, and since I listen to it so loudly I have to constantly monitor the screen.

Additionally, The Bose HU doesn't allow for enough response for adjustments to bass (use a bass ***) or treble. It still sounds good mind you, but I am pretty picky when it comes to sound so I've decided that an aftermarket HU is going to be well worth the investment. Plus the sound quality will improve even more!

That would be the only downside of keeping the stock HU. I'm also not sure if anyone has added a passive EQ keeping the stock headunit. That would be a pretty nasty combination
