I just built a box for my two 10" subs. It is very similar in design to the one on e-bay that everyone knows about. My question is, where can i get polyfill or what else can be used to put inside the box to give the same effect? Also when inserting the polyfill or whatever else into the box do you want it to be airy or packed in there good?

You can find plain old polyfill at most fabric stores since it's commonly used for pillows, or so I've been told.

you want to stuff it kinda in between loose and tight. The effect polyfill does to the sub is that it thinks its in a larger box. Thus dropping the apparent tone. Play around with it a little. its all preference.

The typical rule of thumb is to fill the box 50%. You can pick up polyfil in the sewing sections of WalMart or Meijer.

I built a box for my altima and put some polyfill in it and tried all kinds of combo and it make no difference what so ever on the sound, it was a waste of my time. I bought the stuff at wal-mart. Btw the 2 subs were 10" JLW3V2's.
By the way, what are you trying to achieve with this?

I am building a box for 2 10" subs and the airspace inside the box is going to be shy by about .25 cubic feet. I've read that putting polyfill inside the box can actually simulate up to 30% more airspace thus giving me the airspace requirements i need. I'm going to post pics of the install soon, I built the box myself and wired the amp today, it's about done, i just need to polyfill the box, screw the speakers in and put it in the car. I built a box similar to mike's on ebay but I covered it in vinyl instead of carpet. I will have pics up probably tuesday, that's my next day off. Thank you everyone for all your help and reply's!!
