Bose Stereo Problems on Touring Z - Need Suggestions/Comments
I think it has to do with the speed sensitive volume or whatever its called. My 03 G35 sedan I had didnt have it and nor does my current 03 350z. Neither of them had that useless crap.
You guys are lucky, mine went out completely. There's no sound whatsoever, sometime it even take a day or two to come back, sometime just a few mins after driving. I dont wanna take to the dealer yet 'cause it working ok now, they might not do anything if it working ok. Sucks
argh. my left side speakers stopped working today as well. called the dealer and the service guy said "yeah, it's common for one of the channel boards to go out".
covered under warranty, but mine is only good through 2/08...so they'll replace it...then warranty expires while car sits during winter...then it'll happen again as everyone said above. sigh.

OK, I just have my car check up a the dealer for a few days, the dealer finally find the problem ( they have to wait for the problem to appear ). Mine turned out to be the amplifier is going bad.
So, for those people whose has the Bose system...if your Z doesn't have sound when the head unit is playing, or have to hit the bump/brake to have the sound from the audio....you might wanna check the amplifier.

The dealer called me yesterday after playing phone tag with me and the warrenty company and told me that they are going to replace the head unit, but only with a refurbished one. I hope the head unit will fix the speakers cutting in and out.
I have to say this "upscale" BOSE stereo is
I am coming from a 2000 Lexus Rx300 with just the base Lexus stereo, not even the Mark Levinson or Nakamichi, and the stereo in the Z sounds like ***.
I almost want to rip out the speakers from the Lexus and put them in the Z but I'm afraid its not the speakers that suck because the Lexus just uses paper ones but sound FANTASTIC.
The Lexus H/U is made by Pioneer or Alpine OEM and blows the BOSE away. I hate aftermarket stuff but looks like I am going to have to ditch the BOSE.

Has to be the HU, just got done taking whole back out to expose the bose amp. Adjusted HU balance to the right side only so right speakers will play. And was banging and the bose amp and nothing still playing until I banged on the right side of the HU by your knee and it started cutting out. Some come to the conclusion of changing the HU with an aftermarket.
Okay, it seems that I am now in the right forum.. I now have the left side audio dropout problem in my '04 touring 350Z but, the strange thing is.. it only happens in CD mode . All other modes are fine.. I will call my dealer in the morning and might even call Nissan to find out what I can do.. replace it with another factory system or just scrap the entire thing and buy another head unit.

Well. I ended up calling NNA and told them about the problem.. Wanted to know if it was something that the dealer could diagnose and even more important, was it something that NNA was aware of . They ended up giving me the number to Bose automotive and I left a message. Eventually after reading some of the replies, I went out and hit the left side of the cover to the head unit and wouldn't you know it, The sound came back..
Now, I am not one to down a company but,, for the money that goes into the bose system and the fact that they have their name on it, you would expect a lot more from them.
Anyway,, thanks to all of you that took the time to read and reply to my question. I will keep using it until it finally dies and then, i will find an aftermarket system to replace it..
I'm using a pioneer avic z1/z2 and I'm still having this problem. It goes out after I take a left turn. I have an aftermarket sub and amp as well, I'm starting to think it's the speakers or the speaker amp that's causing this problem.
alright guys here is my problem, do you think its the same?
i have a 2003 touring model, with the bose system, 6 CD changer. my radio works great, no problems at all, all speakers work. but when i try to play a CD no matter the 1-6 CD. the Drivers Side Front and Rear Speakers don't work, if i turn it up all the way i can hear very little, but the passenger side speakers all work with the CD. Can someone help me out, im new to the Z's and looking for good info.
