Default Japanese Alpine Head Unit

I am looking for some reviews on this head unit:

Anyone have it? It is a MDA-W988J.

Also wondering if I would be able to get am/fm radio like a normal US HU - and what I would need to do in order to run Sirius Sat radio with it.

More Details Here

It is Ai-net so all you should need is an $80 sirius for alpine kit. Plugs into the Ai-net port and sets itself up.

Could you use that ai port for two devices? For say, a Sirius tuner AND that Ipod thingy?

Talking Sirius

Are you sure? I am confused now because I just read on this site:

"he SIR-ALP1 even has a special connector that allows you to add other Alpine audio and/or video products to the system like: CD Changers, DVD-Players, Audio Processors and even the Alpine iPOD adapter (the thingy making it the most advanced Alpine compatible satellite tuner on the market!"

Doesn't that mean I can? I am not being sarcastic or anything, I am just new to all of these terms and am not certain. Alpine doesn't have an email for customer service and am not sure if one of their US reps would know squat about a Japanese deck. Thanks!

It never caught on here, but remains popular in Japan, which is why many cutting edge tech products never get imported to the US, like this one.

looks very nice!

but, that unit is too nice for unwanted onlookers...no detachable faceplate (i know, they don't have that feature for double DIN units)

Ok...first of all. When you get Sirius(as I just did) it plugs into your Ai-NET port. However, The Sirius tuner also has an Ai-NET input. I have Sirius and the I-pod interface integrated seamlessly into my system without the purchase of anything extra.

Second of all, Yes, I do. I'll look for them and post them in a few minutes. I just built a new component shelf behind the driver yesterday so I'll take some pics. of that later today.

Here's the trunk now...I'm planning to move the amp behind the drivers seat. First I have to get some parts to make a "2 story" rack. And figure a way to fit it through the hole.

Here's the PSOne...I'm probably the only person that would put a PSOne in a car. How anti-pimp is that. LOL
I only put it there cuz it was laying around.

Here's the controllers...the wire for the driver side is run through from the "glove box" into the spot behind the driver and through the side runner...the passenger side controller just runs down into the side runner.

I just put the controllers behind the seats on the floor when they're not in use.

BTW...My I-POD is actually in the passenger side compartment in that little tray in the bottom.
