i'm replacing the stock hu with my alpine from my other car. what type of kit (plastic part) will i need? i want the one with the pocket on the bottom slot.

and also, what is a metra kit?

I ordered my headunit off of Crutchfield.com. So they included the "plastic part" for me which has the lower pocket. They also gave me the required wiring harness for free. But even if you've already purchased the headunit elsewhere, you can still order the plastic part and wiring harness from them for about $29 each I believe. Go onto their website and find Audio Installation hardware and you'll be able to inter your vehicle year/make/model/options (bose/nav/etc) and they'll get you what you need.

go to www.buy.com and order the american international in dash kit for the 350z, I had the metra kit and took it out immediatly, this dash kit fits MUCH better than the other kits available for our cars, its cheap too, something like $15
