I'd read somewhere that Escort bought out Bel and that the technologies in both are about the same, but wondering if anyone have first hand experience. I read the reviews online that say that the Bel is a bit better at lasar detection. I want to lean towards the RX65 just cause the laser jammer for the Bel is 100 bucks less. Anyways, any thoughts? are they infact the same detector? (excluding the voice features)

Both are the same detector. The RX65 has an option to detect KU band that's used in Europe now, the 8500x50 does not. The X50 has an expert mode that tracks multiple radars, the RX65 does not. Only the X50 is available in blue LED's. The Escort Shifter ZR3 does not jam all laser guns compared to the Blinder M-20.

There have been rumors that US will start using KU band guns this year.

I have a RX-65 and I love it. The laser detection is amazing. It has saved me a few times.
