I was about to put a deposit on this unit till i did a random search, and found a thread that claims that Eclipse is gonna release at satilite version later in the year. Now if im gonna spend the money, i wanna get the best. Has anyone heard of this or is it simply a rumor.

 

I have their 2005 CES brochure, the AVN5495 is not SAT ready, the AVN5435 is (this replaces the 2454). I did hear that Eclipse will be making it SAt ready, but I am not sure.

 

I Just came back from my eclipse dealer, and he said that Eclipse will be making it Sat ready around Nov. He also Mentioned that the Unit that is being released in April will be upgradeable, and that it wont be a diffrent unit all together. Does anyone now if theres any truth to this.

 

I called my dealer on Friday, they confirmed that the AVN5495 is SAT ready are are being shipped now. VERY NICE!

I was quoted 2699.00,, but I may be able to get them to go lower since I have had my previous systems done there. Not sure, it seems Eclipse may not be offering a big profit margin. That is alot of $$$ for a headunit. Well worth it though. Considering if you add all these to a single din slide out unit + Navigation, you are talking 3000 +

I will probaly go for this unit unless I can find a AVN2454 used for about 1000.00

(I work in the city so I want ot be sure I am not pissing away alot of cash in case my car gets broken into.

 

I understood that the new ones are to be much cheaper than the previous avns

 

Thats what I thought, unless Eclipse adjusted the price because of the demand. I even asked If they had any deals on the 2004 AVN 2454 left over because the new units were comming out, they were all sold out!

 

on friday i called eclipse directly and the avn rep mentioned that it was'nt sat ready, but that they were gonna release a disk later on in the year that would update the unit to make it sat ready. If it comes ready that would be awesome, but i think im gonna take the word of the manufaturer over the dealer, but if you guys know something i dont please let me know.

 

So basically it will be an update disc? That is not too bad. But who knows the truth untill someone actually gets their hands on one. It won't be until late March or April for me. I plan on selling some home audio equipment first.

 

Yup. even the Rep wasnt so sure about it, they even told me to call back in a month or two. but i think im gonna put the deposit down regardless this week. (before i spend the $$$$)

 

In march when I go home, I will evaluate where I am in my system... then I might let my 2454 go
