I was using FM modulation, but the quality of sound was poor. This is how I connected my satellite receiver directly to the Bose radio.
Step 1. Purchase a PAC AAI-NIS on Ebay for $83

I even have the option of hooking up an i-pod or another satellite reciever to the PAC.
Pushing the Bose radio button cycles between the options.
Time to install was about 2 hours.

Also worth noting is that the SR1 and SR2 options were not available and did not appear on the display until after I installed the PAC.
Could you please attach a picture of your actual satellite receiver instal location? I can't realy figure out were I should put my unit. It seems that there are not too many options. Did you put yours into the compartment above the radio?
The 2004+ Bose HU are satellite ready. I also used the PAC & is a big difference in sound quality vs the FM modulator. Here's a pic of where I placed my Audiovox receiver:
For anyone shipping a Bose HU (receiving or sending). Make sure that the CD lock is placed or else the CD mechanism inside will get jarred & break during shipping. See attached white plastic bracket on top of head unit. I learned this lesson the hard way.
