Has anyone else had the same idea I have: Install a radar detector in the sunglasses holder.

Upside: I think it could be nearly undetectable from outside the car (good for deterring thieves and cops in states near mine where detectors are illegal) and permanent (no fooling around with suction cups and wires and crap).

Downside: possible slight reduction in radar sensitivity, and front laser capability lost, although not necessarily rear capability. (Not a major problem in my mind, because I've always thought that if you hear the laser go off, you've been nabbed.)

So has anyone taken the sunglasses holder apart and looked inside there? I've only given it a cursory look: there isn't an obvious way to remove the spring loaded holder thingy.

Anybody tried it already? Any ideas (preferably well-informed)?

If it worked, I'd be interested in that.. Detectors be illegal in VA...
