Default sealed enclosure or bass reflex enclosure?

Just purchased 2 pioneer premier TS-SW124D. For the enclosure I wanted to know from someone who might know a little more about this, for the best sound, should i do the sealed enclosure of the bass-reflex enclosure? Both options have the same size box, but the bass-reflex one has an 8 inch tube. What would produce the best sound?
Thanks, -Rich-

I personally like sealed for SQ

Bass reflex will be louder.... depends on what you want to achieve

The main benefit of using these subwoofers is the shallow mounting ability of them ... allowing you to also make a smaller box (.8ft^3 for a 12 is nice) ....

therefore. I would suggest using a sealed setup to make the most space efficient box possible ... not losing any internal volume to a port.

Also, there is no way that you will need an 8" ID port with these I may have misread that and you mean 8" long ... iif that is the case, you will need dual ports (since dual drivers) at twice the length...

in the end, sealed is easier for these, offers better sound quality... and a bit of protection for your expensive subwoofers

Thanks for the response, but i just looked at the insructions for the box agian and its an 8 inch (203 mm) tube. Its the same size box as the sealed enclosure. Just wondering what the difference in sound would be. It confused me cause the two boxes were the same size and shape, but one with the tube. Thanks for the input.

Thanks agian Ahsmo, dont know if i want SQ with the s**t bose system in the hummer. Maybe ill go for the louder more obnoxious bass. J/k Thanks for you input as well

The box size can be the same b/c the bass reflex box is just gonna be tuned really high.

Also, all things equal the bass reflex box will be larger externally, since the final box volume needs to be take into account the volume displaced by the port

sealed volume = internal box size - driver displacement = 0.8ft^3
portred = internal - driver - port = 0.8ft^3
