Bostons or Focals?
Alright I've narrowed down my search. What would you recommend Boston Pro60 components or the Focal 165 K2P components? I have been a long Boston fan, but the Focal’s have me thinking. I’ve listened to both at stores, as you know that is not very accurate, but I liked the Focal’s mid bass, but they seemed a little brighter than the Boston’s maybe too bright. What do you think?

Well, fellas I think I'm in love. I just heard the new Diamond D9s driven by a Zapco 1000.4 and I was just blown away. I was comparing them to both Z6 and Pro60 driven by a JL 300/2.
Please give me thoughts on these system ideas, I can get them both at about the same cost. Please give me insight on SQ of these different components.
Original idea:
Front Boston Pro60 components, Rear Boston SL56 driven by JL 450/4
2 10" JL W6v2 driven by JL 1000/1
or
Front Diamond D971, Rear Diamond M361 driven by Zapco 1000.4
2 10" Diamond D6 driven by Zapco 1100.1
Don't worry I know about rear fill, the rears are going to be set up only to play during movies. Or when I feel like remembering I have speakers back there.

DLS is a swedish speaker..they are big in europe and have won tons of awards, there iridium line up is the ish. THERE SLOGAN IS NATURAL SOUND.The sound these speakers produce is awesome. I went to super autobacs in california and took my demo cd which has all types of music so i can see how well the speakers stand up and like i said they are very smooth and full.Im really into sound quality and these speakers are great.

Ashmo is right, your the only one who can tell which speaker
sound better to you. You should audition both of them with your
favorite cd with you and compare them.
I second the iridiums. That's what i'm installing next week.
I also like the focals 165v2 which i have in my subaru but the iridiums
sound better even compared with the 165w. The other brands that i heard better than the iridiums are the seas lotus ,the morel ovation and
some DIY scan speak comps. You can also check out the Focal Beryllium
http://www.focal.tm.fr/
But between the 2 choices i will go with the Diamond & Zapco combo.
Even though i havent heard the new diamond d971 i think zapco amps
sound really clean and awesome. Don't you think the 1000.4 is to much
for the M361? If i was you i'll go with the 750.2 or c2k 3.0x for the front and ditch
the rear speakers, but that's just me.

First off - before you compare speakers you best be listening to them on very similar amps. The Zapco amp destroys the JL amp you used and therefore the results are way different. The only speakers I'll ever buy are from Boston, DLS, Rainbow, CDT Audio.
On the same system I promise the Pro60s will be more accurate, dynamic, linear, and detailed then the Diamond D9s.

LS350Z,
Where's a good shop on Cincy? I'm down by CVG.
HereÃÔ the dilemma, IÃ×e decided to go with the pair of W6ÃÔ. As far as components, IÃÎ leaning toward the Pros. IÃ×e been a long time Boston guy, I actually had the last set of pros for almost 8 years and loved them and I hear the new pros blow them out of the water.
I currently have the JL 300/4 and 500/1. Although I have had good luck with them, IÃÎ looking for a bit more power for the comps. I keep hearing good things about Zapco, and IÃ×e heard how clean they are even compared to the JLs.
IÃÎ not sure if I should get the Pro60s and call it a day, or go with the Zapco amps and get the Pros or a different set of components.
I pretty much ruled out the Focals, a little bright for my taste.

I'm not trying to divert attention away from the main subject but, what kind of music do you listen to? Reason I ask is because i'm going to get new comps and i don't want a set too mid/high oriented. I listened to my friends focal utopia's and didn't think too much of them cause there was no low end. Will the Pro 60's help my bass craving? Btw i'm trying to keep this car sub'less. Had subs on my 95 legend for 5 years and they're getting old.

The Focals are awesome! I will also add that I had Boston's in my Z31 & had absolutey no complaints. Comparing 1 to the other, The Focals are a much cleaner sound. Their also quite a bit more $$.
