Default 2 subs or 1??? audio experts

Right now i have 2 10w7's in a sealed box under the strut bar in my z. But i still did not get my amp (1000.1 JL) back from JL. In the mean time i hooked up 1 of my 10w7 s with a kenwood amp that i had laying around. The single sub sounds aw some, but with the nice weather outside i noticed that when I'm driving and i lower the windows the bass becomes fuller and lauder and sounds better. Now this got me thinking, if there is not a lot of air volume in the z and i need to lower the windows for better SQ, would 2 subs working of the JL 1000.1 amp not improve anything since there is so little air space in the Z????? I still have chance to get my $$ for the 1000.1 Im thinking about just downgrading to 1 10w7 and a 500.1 amp. Let me know if anyone else ran into this dilemma.

The effect you are getting when opening the windows is that you are basically making your car in effect a ported box. You, being near the window, will see a certain gain there.

Also ... since the pressure is able to escape out the window, your backpressure and bass overlap are diminished, making it sound better to you.

Sell the other W7 ... its beyond more than enough for this car and you know it

I know it its more then i need, if i turn it up my ears pop... But still i wanted a system that if i needed to i can make a small animal explode in the trunk hehehe... Do you think it will be louder if i turn the other sub on? or it will just sound the same or with little gain.

bama350zMD i might sell it, 1 is brand new still.

2 Is Better! I just stepped up to 2 subs vs one and the difference is insane when the hatch is open. with one sub the sounds drops significantly when i open the hatch.

With 2 u can throw a party

the coupling effect is 6+dB more output ... given you parallel them and they are close enough to compliment each other

a single twelve is going to sound a hell of a lot better than two 10's. Always has IMO....If you could fit two twelves in, that would sound even better. With that amount of cash though you could just get a single 15...but I highly doubt that will fit. Just got my Z like 2 or 3 weeks ago, so I don't really know its limitations that well.

I have a single 10 that has been claimed to be a 15" sub by listeners ... don't make blanket statements like that. In the general, sub $200 category it hold true .. but specialty subwoofer are a whole new animal.

It all depends on the driver and the installation

Stick with 1 solid sub with a nice amount of power. Don't overkill it. You'll be more than satisfied with 1 cleanly powered sub. Keep in mind, we're driving small 2 seater hatchbacks

I drive with my hatch closed. I have one JL Audio sub and with a small amp (Kenwood 240Watts) and it compliments the rest of my system nicely. If I wanted the stoopid boom, I'd up the power to the single 10" rather than add a second one.
