Default Sub In Factory Location

I have a base model Z with no sub woofer insert behind the driver seat, I know I cant buy a panel with a speaker grill to fit a 10" speaker, but should I? Is that enclouser to weak to put a JL audio? I am not looking to rock any windows, but just have thump when hearing my Linkin Park/Korn!

do a search my friend before flame war 05 starts. We have beat this horse to death.

Yes: you can put a sub in the stock location.
No: you cant do it without any work, unless you have someone do it for you.
Yes: Linkin park and Korn both blow hard. :P just kiddin.

seriously though, not trying to be an ***. Do a search before you type, people will be more apt to answer your questions.

In his defence I myself have searched this several times and haven't come up with much.Seems like no one wants to try anything for stock spot.I dont have a choice having a roadster and being a golfer.I am going to try something totally new this weekend and ill let you know how it turns out.

i've used the stock location with dynamat and it sounded ok, then i bought a box of ebay for $100 that fits under the rear strut tower bar and it sounds ridiculous. no comparison. sue the space behind the seat for ur amps and satellite tuner.

I agree that there is not a lot out there for the stock space.

I put an amp that I already had in the glove box, used an Navone line out converter from the head unit, about $120 worth of Dynamat in the stock sub location, and put a $55 Pioneer 254f 10'' sub in the stock location.

The sub doesnt hit quite as hard as it would if it were in a box, and certainly doesnt hit as hard or as low as a 12'' or 15'', but I think it is still a great improvement. Definitely sounds A LOT better than the Bose system, and at a fraction of the price.

I also have a Roadster and the sub shakes the rearview mirror with the top down going 70 mph.

Do what I did. Get a place to do a fiberglass enclosure for you in stock location. Sounds GREAT. Saves space, especailly if you have a roadster. 10" JL Audio.

Edit: PM me if you are in SOCAL.. I can hook you up with a good price and great people.

if you take off the plastic covering on that spot you should see a peice of metal with a 9.5" hole cut out already. find a sub that is recommended for infinite baffle, screw it in hook it up and enjoy. It won't sound as good as a sealed or ported sub in a better location but it'll give you that little extra bump your looking for.
When looking at the specs of a sub for IB application a QTS of .7 or above means it's well suited for IB setups, though there are a few exceptions.
www.edesignaudio.com all of their subs are IB capable, even with low Qts, just don't give them as much power as they would normally get in a box. call them up and they can help you figure out what will sound best.
