Added 10" Kicker Comp Sub
Well, I had a Rockford Fosgate 200-Watt Bridgeable Amplifier installed with a Kicker Comp 10' Sub in the factory location. It sounds cool, but I need to Dynomat the hell out of it to hopefully get rid of all the rattles. Any other ideas on how to get rid of the rattles?
I found a site where I can buy the stock cover that goes over the 10" sub in the touring model. Putting that in should also help with the rattles since it is supposed to be there.
Here is a link to the site where I got the factory sub panel for behind the driver seat. http://www.ultimatez.com/

Ouch, $19.95? Courtesy sells it on their site for $5.35! I was wondering if Courtesy's price was a mis-print, but I took advantage of it.
Anyway, I've been looking for a sub and amp as well, thanks for the tip.

GSRto350z:
Could you give me some input as to how the Kicker Comp sounds, are you happy with it, is the bass solid? 3 years ago I would've ripped the Z apart and did a huge install, but those days have come and gone. I'm just looking for something that sounds good, with good solid bass (I don't need to be heard a block away).
I've been looking at these subs:
-Infinity Kappa Perfect 10
-Kicker Comp 10
-Soundstream Exact 10
-JL 10ib4
I'm even considering one of the new Soundstream Rubicon 10's (althought I'm a little leary since I think they were bought out by Power Acoustic)
Another Option is to wait for the IDMax 10
On another note, alot of people think that free air (infinite baffle) installs suck, they are actually very good for SQ. The best sounding subs that I have ever heard were done in an IB install in my old Prelude. I just wish one of my IDW-15's would fit in the Z.
Sorry to ramble, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated
Respectfully,
EJC

Eddie,
I would go with the infiniti's. I actually had 2 kicker C12's in my 240 with a fosgate punch 200 that sounded great, but this time I went with a single Kappa Perfect 12.1. It sounds awesome. very loud. It's running 600 watts peak right now. (I can't imagine how loud it would be with its peak of like 1200 watts!) I'm not knocking the kickers, I loved those two, but the infiniti seems to have a more crisp, controlled sound to it. Just my opinion though.

There we go...
...I'm happy. I didn't want to blow windows out and set off car alarms, I just wanted to enhance my sound with out affecting the stock look.
The sound is good but I need a cross-over then it will be close to perfect. If it was any loader I would get back aches.
There was some rattling, but I took out the sub panel and put Dynomat on both sides then put Dynomat around the inside cubby area. Now there is no rattles. Amazing what that stuff does.

The stock subwoofer cover can be ordered from www.courtestparts.com as noted above. Took a minute to find the right site from the post above, but it was only 5.35.. quite a deal.
I am thinking of putting 2 8" kicker subs behind the drivers seat kind of like this awesome set up here -

Are you guys saying I am better off with Infinitis? I am kind of partial to the kickers cause I used to have an SS10 full range box in my old 1987 acura (my first ride, sniff) and it thumped pretty good.

Are there mounts for the sub behind the driver's seat in non-touring models?
I have an Enthusiast and have a 10" Kicker sub and amp from a previous car that I have been wanting to install in the Z. Just want something simple that will add some much needed bass, nothing too complicated...
