Default Passport SR7 - Why has no one mentioned this model?

Okay, I know ANOTHER radar post. But how come I haven't seen anything on this unit? I know it's very pricy but it's almost completely stealth (or can be) and it is highly rated for performance.

I went to see Big-Al today for some finishing touches (cosmetic's) on my audio install and really want to add a radar detector to my car. We looked at pretty much every option for the 8500 & V1 and there is just no place I want to put one of these that looks good imo. I've seen the mirror bracket you guys are using & that looks okay but I want to stay as stealth as possible.

I did a search & discovered The SR7. Yea it's like $1,000.00 installed and even more with the shifter feature added. BTW, what the hell is "shifter"?

This SR7 looks pretty sweet. It has front radar & laser detectors that would mount behind the grill & not even be seen plus a rear laser detector that would mount on the rear somewhere (I think it's designed to mount on the license plate).

It even allows you to completely conseal the control unit and install a simple multi-color LED (which is included) on the dash or somewhere else in line of site and has a seperate speaker for warnings that can be consealed.

Is there ANYONE here that has this unit?

I would love a review and some install picks.

I have it and love it. The front sensors are totally hidden. I have the rear above the license plate. I got a black plate frame so its not too obvious. Right now i have the display unit inside the nav compartment so i just close it when im going thru check points etc. Sure its expensive but in my case well worth it.

I've been considering the SR7 too. The only problem I see is how/where to mount the display....? I want it completely factory looking. I've been wondering if it would be possible to custom mount the display in one of the center gauge pods. That'd be awesome....

Any other ideas?

Actually, That's what I like about this unit. The control unit doesn't even have to be in line of site because there is an optional small LED that could be mounted inside the gage cluster or where ever you'd like in line of site. Or the control unit is so small you could mount it just about anywhere you'd like within arms length and still use the small LED as your indicator with the seperate speaker so you get an audio warnig as well.

I'd like some picks if anyone has them.

I have the SR7 and the Z3 shifters. A bezel is availible to flush mount the display, I plan to put it above the shifter below the heater controls. The remote light I plan to put in the autolight a pillar pod. Right now the display rides in the coin holder. I am cutting my spare shifter surround today to fit the display.

BTW, the bezel is a bear to find, Escort will not sell it direct. I bought it from Etronics who shipped it from some dude in Cali. Took awhile.
