HELP my sub problem!
No manual on their website, but the crazy thing is usually mono amps come with only 1 pos/neg output. The hifonics have 2 pos/neg outputs plus one extra one (5 total), which i couldn't read the picture what it was for. What does it say on the connector all the way left? I bet you use that one as the one positive and use one of the negatives, but unless i can see the manual i'm only guessing. How are the other settings? You can try setting sub sonic all the way left 0, set bass eq in the middle, set low pass around 200 (just to check), and phase at 0, move the gain about 1/2-3/4 from the 0 position. Your friend hooked it up on both ++ -- on each output and it pounded?

what actually is the gain ****?? since i really can't find the gain... is that same as the Variable Input Level Contol ??
my friend was using the JL 1000/1 indepently, which it still provide 1000watt at 4ohm... the Hifonic would work independtly also... but just not enough juice since it is only providing 500watt at 4ohm... so i need to wire it in parallel for sure to get enough juice,, and the problem is when i wired it to parallel, i dun even get the power i got from wired indepently...
could it be connection problem on speaker wire when i need to wire the coil in parallel??

gain would be the level ****. I just looked at a picture of the 1000d and it has 4 outputs, not 5, so i guess yours is like this one with 4 outputs. I can't believe they designed it to use all 4 outputs from the amp to a dual voice coil sub, but i guess it's possible. It's definitely a connection problem.
Here's the 4 logical connections
1. on the amp, each positive out to each positive on the speaker and same with the negative right? that would be 4 wires, each going to it's own terminal.
2. you wired the two + pos connectors on the subwoofer to one speaker wire, and that one wire goes to one of the +pos terminals on the amp. The two neg terminals on the speaker connected to one wire to go to one neg terminal on the amp. This would be the normal parallel hookup.
3. one +pos wire from the amp going to one of the + wires on the sub. Then a short wire from that matching neg terminal to the other + Pos connector on the sub, then one wire from the neg terminal on the sub to the neg terminal on the amp. This is the serial hookup.
4. the only other thing i could think of was if they allow bridging the 2 pos and 2 neg on the amp outputs, but i doubt it, doesn' sound right.
5. Do you run any power capacitors?

ok, just read jl's website, the 4 outputs are actually bridged inside.
So, both number 1 and number 2 above will result in a parallel hookup and bring your ohms down to 2. If it's still not thumping, you have something set wrong, hp/lp switch, or gain too low, and also check your ground to make sure it's grounded on a solid ground.

o,, maybe i had problem with my wiring then, since when i was wiring in parallel, I wired the 1st coil's (+) to 2nd coil's (+) then to the amp (+), then same for the (-)... maybe i should try wire them to an extra wire then to the amp...
I dunno if the hifonic is bridged inside tho... if so, then it is clearly not giving 1000watt compare to the JL 1000/1...

either way, 4 wires, or 2 wires to the amp, it should work all the same (if it's like the JL and bridged inside). The way you explained, + to + to plus on the amp, should have worked. Yeah, the input gain is the level ****, move that up 3/4 of the way up.
