Need help installing my audio system (Seattle area)
Howdy folks,
I own a 2004 Enthusiast and can't stand the stock audio. So, I went ahead and bought the stuff: Alpine CD/MP3 player, Alpine CD changer, Type R Sub, 2 Alpine amps, Diamond separates for the front, Diamond coax for the back and all the wires needed. I still need to buy a 1+ farad cap but that's easy. A local store wants to charge me $1,200.00 for install
I could do it but I have tendinitis So, I'm not gonna punish myself and do it.
Any of you guys in the Seattle/Everett area? I will pay $400.00 for the labor (+ a $100.00 bonus) if it turns out to be a clean install.
Thanks,
Woody

$500 is a good price and even I would bite at it if I was still living in your area. I moved from Everett a few years ago.
Back in the day $200 would do a headend, amplifier and four speakers. Adding the second amp, cap, subwoofer, and changer bumps that price up some as does the way the Z is put together. Sounds like a 6 hour job to me.
You should also buy the wiring harness adapter and the DIN installation kit which ought to run you about $30 total. The adapter will save the installer from having to cut off the stock connector and allow him to soldier everything from the aftermarket radio on the bench using heat shrink tube. The DIN adapter will take the double DIN hole of the stock radio and convert it to a single DIN with a small pocket underneath (I assume the Alpine is a single DIN unit). Crutchfield sells them both.

NO takers?
Well, Car toys was kind enough to install my stereo stuff for $710.00 out the door. They went ahead and started working on it yesterday. I'm 30 minutes away from picking it up as of this writing.
I will post pics ASAP. Wheeee!
Thanks for the tip Paul What kind of ammo would you work for?
I'm a Sig Sauer fan myself (12 Sigs so far and growing)

.308 or .223 mainly
My first real job at age 18 was a car stereo installer. I did radios, speakers, power antennas, amps, equalizers and a whole bunch of CB radios. It paid really well for 1978-81 at $50 to $75 an hour but I would only work five to six hours a day six days a week. The work was a b***h and I was always beat up with cut fingers, burned hands, and bruises from various run in's with really hard car parts. I did a whole lot of Cameros and Trans Ams ... the popular boy-toy of the era.
Now the systems have just grown to stupid ridiculous SPL levels capable of permanently damaging the owners hearing. When I get done designing my Z's system it's going to have some nice sweet small amplifiers around 50-100 watts worth of clean power (x4) plus a bit more for the sub-woofer. The system will never get played at those volume levels but will run very cleanly at "old man" listening levels.
