Default Questions about an Alpine TME-M770 monitor installation

Howdy folks,

I'm a newbie and I did use the search function but didn't find anything that would answer my question.

I'm in the process of installing my Alpine Tme-M770 6.5 monitor and DVA-5210 in dash DVD player ( I have an Alpine CDA-7998 Ai Net for a head unit).
My question is; reaading through the installation instructions for the monitor, it says I have to connect some wiring to the hand brake, emergency brake, illumination, back up and so forth? What is the prupose of this? Is it for safety feature so that you can't view a movie (not that I would) while on the road? Is there any way to bypass and NOT to connect these wires and not jeopardize any function of the monitor? Will it not work if I don't connect the wires (parking, back up etc.)?

Thanks in advance,
Sig220ST

You can see my write up here:

You can just connect the parking brake wire to either ground or 'acc' - don't remember which (think it was grnd) - you can try both - one will work and the other will just say something like 'the monitor is turned off for your saftey'.
