my painted dash

sorry for the crappy pics - took em at 3am last night.

Oh and total cost including materials i used to mold the dash kit in was around $100 - but I did all the prep myself (hours and hours of sanding)

honestly I got it because I can't stand all the blinking lights and cheesy features on most headunits. i wanted a clean, no frills deck that looks like it should have come with the car. I'm installing a carputer, so all the blinging features other headunits have such as DVD or Nav will be run through the computer.
here's the specs on the headunit:
Copper plated chassis
Dual 20-bit Platinum D/A converters
Balanced 8V line outputs with dual mini-DIN connectors
Coaxial digital input
Metal alloy rotary encoder ****
Dual preamp outputs with double shielded cables and metal RCA connectors
Low impedance (<50 ohms) 5V preamp output
24 FM / 12 AM presets with auto memory store
Auxiliary analog RCA inputs
Backlit LCD display with clock
Mute function
Bass & treble controls (+/- 12 dB @ 100 Hz & 10 KHz)
100 dB dynamic range / 86 dB channel Separation
I paid about $350 shipped for it and it was worth every penny. Like I said, I like things clean and felt that the brushed aluminum face and backlighting complimented the Z's interior very well. Before the blue dash most people didn't realize it was aftermarket. I've always liked things to blend in well... here's my old car's dash:
