My install is a mirror image of Platinums. Keep them high on the kick panel so that legs dno't block much sound and try to get directional (moveable) tweets so you can aim them easily. Dremel tool and a rasp is all you need to install in kicks. Braxial install in front of the woofer is a good choice too.

Boston acoustics and CDT have ambient products (2nd tweet sets) designed to lift the soundstage of those who have mounted the main tweets low. they work pretty well.

Interesting info here. I plan to take a close look at the CDT system that includes a mid and 2 sets tweeters. This seems to be an excellent solution.

Focal suggests that their tweeters be in the door pillar facing the front windshield. The is concave )> not convex (> like most tweets. I had mine installed in the stock location and it sounds great. The menu in the Apline 9835 allows you center the sound from where you sit in the car

I just surface mounted mine up high in the stock location. You want them up at ear level as much as possible and with a clear shot to your head - the more reflections and bounces they take the less clear the sound stage. Mid-range and mid-bass are less important but you still want them close.

You guys have been extremely helpful! Dave079 & Paul, I like those installs. I may have to play around w/ either there or the Kicks. I usually have a paasenger in the car so the kicks might not be the best for me.

I just mounted my CDT's in the A-pillars. They fit perfectly, and it really helps to image the sound right on your dash.

Sure thing...I also included one of the crossover mounted in the kick. I ran new 16 guage wire through the stock harness, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Here's a little link from CDT. Kinda shows what they think about mounting on the A-pillars.

thanks for any help or sugestins!
I have my JL Audio tweeter mounted in the OEM location and it looks 100% factory. I just removed the OEM one and modified the bracket a little and bolted in the JL Audio one.

I am planning to mount my BA ambient tweeter set in the A-pillar also. Is there enough room behind it for the tweeter or is there sheet metal that you have to cut out?
