Default pics of mounted Amp behind seat?

wassup guys i'm trying to mount an amp behind the driver seat. the amp is pretty long, about 20-22 inches. can you guys post pics of how you have yours mounted. i know that the amp is mounted to a carpeted wood as the base but are you guys drilling it into the metal for mounting the base? any step by step installation would be much appreciated. thanks.

I don't have any pics, but I have a 2 Rockford amps in my compartment. If all you want is one amp, you can make a base board that is a little larger than you amp. Carpet, no carpet, doesn't matter. Whatever your preference. The bottom bracket will sit in the compartment at an angle, like a down hill slope. I went to Home Depot and bought these T-brackets. They are about 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches long. With a pair of pliers, you can bend the brackets to any angle you desire. With the wide part of the bracket, screw this down to the frame of the car. The other end is used to fasten to the base board. I used 2 T-brackets. It adds security incase some foo' wants to try and rip your amp out.

Checkout my thread on my amp install. I'm a complete novice and was able to get it all done in about 4 hours over the course of a day. (had a lot of interruptions)

I even give you a diagram on the biggest amp rack I was able to get to fit. This rack sits on a little lip in the back and is held in place by some metal stripping and three of the existing bolts (you can see it in the photo).

You want to dry fit your amp and any other hardware you are putting on there first before actually screwing it on to make sure you clear the door and anything else in there.

Hmmm... 22inches is pretty long. I think that's as long as I made my rack and you have to allow for several inches in the front for the door.

JL Audio 1000/1 & 450/4 mounted behind the drivers seat where the Bose sub was originaly. Amps are bolted to the MDF with some homemade bolts & have a 1/2" or so air gap between them to aid cooling. MDF rests on a ledge on the right side, an existing bolt at the left rear, wooden blocks front & left. Hot glue gun used to fix blocks to car. These joints can be easily cracked open if you need to. Metal plate minus the Bose sub etc is refitted.

Dimensions of the two amps are:
19.7"L x 9.25"W x 2.36"H
(500 mm x 235 mm x 60 mm)

Quite a tight fit to get them both in, due to the height more than the length. There is enough room lengthwise for a 22" amp in there.

its held with those two L brackets and rests on some foam tape up front. Doesn't move at all and no squeaking.

3 amps and a capacitor. Attach the L brackets to the top so you dont drill into the metal.

Lots of good ideas.

I like coming down from the back with the straps to mount. I also like using the front three 10 mm bolts. My pair of amps weighs in like at 15 pounds or so and I was worried about banging them around if not mounted tight enough.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Wait until Wed. night! I get my car back from my audio shop with my custom installs. They built me a custom rack for two amps (JL 500/1 and JL 300/4), they are on a carpeted wood "stair step" type set up and the coolest thing of all I had them carefully cut out the "grille" section of the factory "blose" sub panel and they smoothed the edges and put a custom cut piece of plexiglass there to see the amps, and it looks PERFECT! I'll post pics Wed. night after I get my baby back!
