Just heard the Bose system in a new '05 35th anniv......WOW!
Nissan must have been listening. This is not the same Blose system in earlier model cars. Full, rich sound, with plenty of clean deep bass. I was impressed. A bunch of us got to hear it at the recent meet at XXTuning in CT, and the concensus was that the new system is night and day compared to the old.
I have the 35th with the Bose and couldn't get that thing out of there fast enough.
Have a look at the quality components:
Wonder how they get 360 watts from the two amps this small (the other is a bit bigger)

A booming subwoofer for sure.

Fine main door speakers

In fairness the rear 6.5" speakers were bigger and not as **** poor as the door ones and the tweeters weren't completely bad.
On top of the "qualilty" of the componets Bose equalizes hard to make up for the weakness of their made in China components. Then there's the microphone down under the steering column that automatically adjusts the volume AND the tone of the music. I have only replaced the Bose headend, speakers, and pulled out the amplifiers. I have not installed my pair of Inifinity amps and the system went from playing sound to playing music. Even without my new subwoofers and amplifer installed the Infinity Kappa 6.1 have more bass running off the 22 W headend than the Bose with the "amplifier" and 10" subwoofer.

I learned about 30 years ago at the tender young age of 15 to listen with your ears not your eyes. At the time cassette decks were the rage and I was looking for one for about $300 for the house (big bucks to a 15 year old 30 years ago) and was looking at the BEAUTIFUL looking Pioneer 9191 and the rather plain Jane looking Akai 710D. The sales guy busted out a pair of identical tapes and did a test recording for me on each machine - the Akai was the better recorder despite the looks.
That said there is a huge difference in the sound between the aftermarket gear and the stock stuff. If you're not an audiophile you might not notice the difference or not care about the difference. My SUV has a stock system in it and it works well enough.
I hear ya. I was being sarcastic regarding the "obvious" lack of quality of the Bose equipment in the pictures you posted. I really liked the comparison and appreciate you taking the time to take them for all who weren't aware.
I've spent nearly 3k on my aftermarket system since buying yhe Z, so I know what yer talking about. And I'm only 6 years younger, and an ex-battleship sailor..so some of us have been there too :-)
