I told the guy that I just wanted a 250/1 but he said that it was not enough power to push those 2 subs....He said that the bass was going to be distorted.

I even told him that I didn't want to be propelled down the road but he said to turn the gain down.....

The JL 500/1 would be fine. As long as you are responsible with the gains on the amp, the subs can take it.

yeah it will be fine but you are buying an amp that you will be not even using half of its power for the type of sound you want, but really the price of the two amps isnt a huge diffrence so when you in the mood to hear some loud bass youll have it ready to go

Put in a loud CD and reduce the gain until the rattling stops. You should have gone with the 250/1! I have no rattle in my hatch whatsoever.

I also have my liscense plate rattling as well...I don't really want to turn the bass down though it perfect for my ears when I turn it up to balance the MB Highs...it sounds great....maybe I will turn the gain down a little though...

Had a custom box done with a JL 10w6, placed in trunk under bar, powered by the JL 500/1. Love it and dont even notice much differnce between that and the 12w7 I had before. Never herd a speaker that could come close.

Mine are mind numbingly loud @ only 50-65% gain...I can feel the wind moving around my head from the subs if I turn it all the way up...which I usually don't do....I am enjoying the system as a whole very well though......

which series MB's did u go for?

i just bought Q-Lines for the front, because my JBL GTis wouldnt fit, and based pretty much on my installers recomendation, i havent heard them yet

i went with an Alpine Type X 10" sub, it sounded pretty good and bought it more on my positive experience running a 12" type r previously

its also got a nice deep magnet and looks pretty good, which was more important for my install i spose

Buying a 250/1 would not help his vibration problem. If anything he did the right thing by buying the 500/1. That gives him the dynamic headroom to allow his music to peak properly, and allow for future upgrades as well. Buying an amp to do the minimum would only open the door to possible clipping issues in the future if you feel like its not loud enough anymore.

Have you figured out where the vibration problem is exactly?

Yes...part of it is from my liscense plate where I broke a bracket & I can't get the screw back out or in........The other is from the hatch itself vibrating in that little gap where the hatch & body meet....Thanks for the positive post...I was beginning to wonder if I bought too much..
