Default Extending Ribbon Cable

Hey,

i need to get either a longer ribbon cable or splice mine up to add a couple inches to the one i have.It is the ribbon cable that goes from a 6.5" pioneer monitor to the board for the buttons. The one i have is litteraly 1" long and i need to get at least another 1". The ribbon is about 0.3" wide and has 14 conductor. I would need a microscope to cut in half and solder some more wire. Does anybody know where i could get any ? Thanks

Here are the pics of the cable and the plug it goes in.

Do a search on www.digikey.com for ribbon cable. They offer some flat cable, but its a long shot. You'll almost have to have something custom made, is there a name on the Pioneer ribbon cable?

yes there is a couple stuff on the ribbon, VW-1 BANDO-S 60V 80C and then a partial number with the last 3 numbers being 624. I think there is a 0 or before and maybe some more numbers but i cant tell because its at the beginning of the wire. I did a search on google for VW-1 BANDO-S but i only found a 6 pin.
Do you think soldering would be an option knowing that there is 14 connector and the cable is only 0.3" wide ?

I wouldn't try soldiering ribbon cables - especially if they're the flat ones with just foil for traces. The kind with tiny wires would be a real ***** requiring micro-minature repair skills.
