Wiring Mess Redux
Accidentally pulled PINS from M40 Connector.
Well, I think I have it figured out. However, I think too late, I probably had the pins reversed on initial rebuild and when I put it all back together (correctly I think) now all I get is a clicking sound from the CD palyer.
I think this is a bad thing, anyone have any thought on wheter I fried the system???? Like the head unit, amp, bass amp or antenna amp?
Last question, any suggestions on a replacement system? That BOSE thing sounded like S*** anyway.
For those interested, here is the mapping I came up with.
Wire Colors for M40 Connector
LG RL G W
earth RY Y GW R B
Pin Assignments for M40 Connector
10 8 4 2
9 7 6 5 3 1

Well, when you leave the head unit unplugged for a while, it does click when you plug it back in, sort of a whiiiiiir-click noise, maybe 8-10 times (it sounds like if you have a damaged dvd in a dvd player and it's trying to read it but can't).
Is that what you're hearing? If it is, you should be fine...

Your mapping is correct, the only way you could have damaged anything is if you swapped power cords - check the fuses - Pin6 (y) should tie in with amp power as well and runs off a 15amp fuse. Pins 8 (R/L) and pin 7 (R/Y) are for illumination control (dims with headlights ect..) those should run in with the illumination system. Pin 8 runs into a budle with other things and eventually ends up hiting the tial lamp relay and then a 10amp fuse. Pin 7 ties in with other things into pin 18 of unified control unit (R/Y) (bottom Center of larger white plug).
Just start checking all the wires with multimeter, if everything is getting what it's suppose to from the wiring , then the stereo is out.
Hope that helps.
