Default Buy Valentine 1 radar detector now, or wait for newer version?

I'm looking to buy a Valentine 1 radar detector off their website. I know they do upgrades and all when your model version gets old... but I'm wondering if I should purchase the V1 *now* or wait a little bit and see if they come out with a newer model/version in the near future? What do you guys think?

Buy it now, they just came out with new software so you should be good to go V1.8 with dual POP. And even so they have free upgrades if they release a new program. Think about it cops use the same setup so upgrades in the future wont be all that important.

You'll always be waiting for the next upgrade. Mines like four years old and it works around here just fine. I haven't managed to receive a ticket yet though the only ones I really worry about are the CHiP's out on the 15 between Victorville and Las Vegas. The local cops are really aggressive so I keep it close to the speed limit - they've got four motorcycle cops that set up hunter-killer packs to nail speeders like mad. One resturant we eat I faces the expressway off ramps where they hide looking for people that blow the light. During an hour long meal they'll catch ten or twelve every time.

Yes, it's been the "BEST" since it was invented I finally got to order mine today. Having it sent 2 Day Air, so I should have it by the weekend. Also, I ordered the "Z Bracket"(www.countryjoycrafts.com) for the V1, so it will have a nice custom home, for taking out law enforcement radar Ciao, Sunset

I was looking to making this one of my first purchases. Did everyone buy theirs from the website or are there authorized dealers that sell them locally for cheaper?

I just wish that the valentine unit wasn't so bulky and ugly. Why can't they redesign it? They've had that same design since the begining of time, and it's getting reallllyyyy old now.

Call Valentine Research at 1 800 331 3030 and ask for a returned V1 and you will get 10% off of the retail price of $399 and that comes with a 1 year warranty.

Shid, check out their custom Valentine mounts. It doesn't matter how clunky it is although it will cost you some dough. Go to what's new.

one word of advice....

dont trust your V1 all the way.... I did it and ended up with a supervision (almost loosing my DL). Always think before you floor it - I learned it, but learned it the hard way
