Yup. And I would have expected none other than a 'No' from them either. Another reason I did not bother calling them.

Even so, I pray the person you spoke to did not know all the ugly details. With the exception of BMW and maybe VW/Audi, most manufacture do not like to entertain the idea of upgrading existing OS of anything. Bug fixes yes, but not flat out upgrades with enhancements. There simply isn't a process in place for the corporation to deal with the such. We were able to download NAV upgrades for the BMW X5 from the company website. That was cool!

So, until I can verify the inside of the 03-05 NAV box is in fact different from the 06 model (i.e. more memory, different processor, etc). I'd like to hang on to the slimmest of all hopes.

As a last resort, we may be able to purchase the new NAV box alone. That may cost a leg and an arm, however.

Here's to hoping.

Oh, I do hope someone tries anyways. Even if it is the slimmist chance, cause I want that new look! LOL

I hope some 2003 people know some 2006 people so they can borrow their nav cd and dvd and try it out.

Thanks ZlleH. I was hoping that us '03-'05 owners would be able to upgrade to version 7.x without a hardware upgrade. Guess not. Oh well. Does anyone know how much an '06 Nav CPU module would cost?

05 nav here. My door seems to work okay so far,4,000 mi. Maybe I should knock on some wood! I like the idea that it hides the nav head and makes it look like you don't have nav when the car is parked. I wish it had a real time speed readout. I'm a pilot and all aircraft GPS have it. Hope to be able to upgrade to the split screen. Can someone tell me if we get a free upgraded DVD when you buy a new car? and how long you have to get it. Not sure I needed the nav bitc* (voice) to tell me when to turn though. I just turn it off most of the time. As for the touch screen I'm not a fan of them. They always look greasy with all the finger prints all over ithem. I guess its just what ever you like.

The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess.

As for the motorized NAV lid: I experienced problems at around 12,000 miles, but only for about 750 miles. The NAV lid got stuck, sometimes halfway, or it would not open at all. MacGyver solution was an injection of WD40 right into the 2 hinges. Once the magic lube settled into the gears, I've been trouble free for the last 7,000 miles.

Anyone have any updates on this? I really like the new interface, and would definitely pay like $200 to upgrade.
