Default Yet another rattle question

Well not quite but close.

I have a 2005 Enthusiast Model WITHOUT the bose system and have already replaced the front speakers and added an amp/head unit.

Took the cover off where the factory sub would go and I see that the 10" subwoofer plate is already installed.

Looking to just add a little low end bass to my system so I thought I would drill new mounting holes in that plate and hook up a free air sub.

Before I do this, it seems to me that the plate would act as an unwanted source of rattle since it is attached to the car.

I am sure folks have gone this route so my question is this:
Did your car rattle badly when mounting a subwoofer to that 10" sub plate?

If so, what can be done about it?

Thanks

it won't ratte as long as you install a gasket with it. but you should seriously think about putting the sub somewhere in the trunk, as you most likely will not be satisfied with the "stock" location and then in turn pull it out and redo a trunk mount! just trying to help you out my man and not see you waste your money

The plate is fit for an 8 inch sub. Did I miss something here?

You might be right. I haven't chked in awhile and forgot the size. I trashed that plate when I used the cubby hole for amps.

Appreciate the reply.
I was holding(quite firmly) an older JL Audio 10" sub that I have in that spot and it sure made the whole back vibrate.

I am sure that it will sound better in it's own sealed box in the back but I really don't want to ruin the looks of the interior by having a speaker box sitting back there.

Besides the concern over rattling, I got to thinking that the stock location may make the back of the driver's seat vibrate. That would seem to wierd to me.

My philososphy is that if I am not 100% sure of something, then I don't do anything so I guess for the time being I will have to be satisfied with my 6.5" Component setup (which does sound nice anyway)
