Default Finished my AVIC-D1 Nav install (pics inside)

Well it was a pretty long and troublesome effort but I am finally done. Overall the installation was pretty easy, just time consuming. It took a while to hide all the wires and make sure that everything was secure and did not rattle. I decided to retain the stock Blose system and install the NAV using the AudioLink PD4 adapter. I wanted to stay away from replacing the entire stereo system due to the fact that I wanted to sell the GPS separately when I sell the vehicle. This I way I simply re-install the Bose headunit and remove the PD4. Overall the sound quality is now pretty good and I cannot stop raving about the unit. The XM radio and NAV traffic are awesome!

Here are the pics!

Also, when using the Metra double din adapter you will have to cut a piece of the original Pioneer headunit frame to fill-in the gap in the Metra adapter. Cheers

Its absolutely phenomenal, could not be happier. Make sure to bypass the lockout features, otherwise it becomes rather useless.

I take it you do not have the factory nav? I have the factory nav and have read that the unit does not function if the Bose HU is removed. Anyone with feedback? I want to install a new HU.

aprikh1 I also just bought the D1.. was just wondering what all you need to install. you said AudioLink PD4 adapter for the bose system. where did you get that from and how much. and also what is Metra double din adapter for. anything else you need.

The PD4 takes your inputs from any HU and connects to the rest of the BOSE system, thus you don't have to change amps, speakers etc... To remove the unit, you take out the new HU, the PD4 and plug in the original OEM HU and presto, you are back to OEM... I have a PD4 waiting in my garage for the right use, this looks like it!

Looks GREAT! VERY Nice! There are units out there that wake up the Bose system without having to replace the speakers and amps. I am assuming the AudioLink PD4 performs the same function as the Peripheral Electronics 4ch Converter? What you used along with the Metra Kit and harness provides a MUCH BETTER system, plus it looks good in a 350Z. I just finished installing the Eclipse AVX2494.
