I posted a little description about this in relation to Ipod integration and the 9855...scroll to the bottom.

I have had the 9855 for about 1 month, and although it is bearable, I really do not think it makes much sense in the long run. I know this is very subjective...For navigating the menus/adjusting settings, it is just fine, but when you incorporate the Ipod integration, it is really quite annoying.

I think I read a post about how someone really likes it...so really it is a matter of personal opinion. I would go to a store and try it out before you buy...really get a feel for it and such.

 

+1 ^^ i have the 9855 as well, and it's very hard to scroll songs on your ipod while driving. an minor bump in the road will have you scrolling through songs all over again... i find it's easier to take the ipod out and scroll to the song/artist using the touchwheel, hitting play and plugging the ipod back to the adapter..

 

Glidetouch is horrible. I thought Alpine was coming around until they released that trash. I've yet to meet anyone who like glidetouch after owning it for a few months.
