What kind of alarm do you have?
I am in the market for an aftermarket alarm. i am planning to go with the clifford. how much did u shed out for it and installation? is there anything u would recommend?
thanks!
thanks!
Smith and Wesson.
The car comes stock with an engine by-pass I think ... or it was installed with my dealer provided one. Alarms really don't do much for me any more. When I hear one of the neighbor's going off I don't even look out the window. When one (or more likely three or four) are going off in the mall's parking lot I don't even glance in that direction. My car gets garaged every night and sits under armed guards at a military installation at work.
I would make sure you've got the engine kill option so that the car won't start without the key's transponder. If you have to leave your car on the street or afraid that it's going to get stolen I would get a radio transmitter that connects to a pager so that you can respond to it ... as no one else cares any more.
Don't leave jack in the car. Turn your stereo system down prior to entering your neighborhood (as the kids there are most likely to steal it) and before arriving at work (or school). Get a scarecrow LED to blink on and off. Years ago I would mount a blinking LED in opposite turn signal housings so that they could be seen from every direction when approaching the car.

Clifford, Viper, and Python are alarm systems are all controlled by Directed or DEI for short. Clifford is their high end units which is superior to Viper and Python. Over all though, their designs and concepts are similar to each other.
I have a Python 881XP Responder Alarm system and i'm very happy with it. I did the install into my Z myself. I've also done installs with Viper units and it's just like installing a Python unit. I've looked into Clifford and it to looks fundamentally as it's counterparts. All an all, if you want a good alarm system that is fully backed by DEI, has an excellent warrenty, great tech support, and great range, go and look into DEI's alarm systems. Look into their Responder units. If you have any questions in reguards to the alarm install it's self, let me know and i'll help you to the best of my knowledge.

When I stay at the condo, I can remote start the car in the undergroud from the 15th floor. The building is all concrete. I've had all the major alarms. Nothing else comes even close.

In your opinion, how does the features stack up to other more popular brands like "Clifford, Viper, Python, DEI Alarm Systems"?. I'd like your impression in reguards to Compustars Alarm Systems overall performance aspects. Please. Thanx.
My installer does the other brands all day, but found the wiring on the Compustar a little tricky, but not too bad. It's got about a dozen extentions, and the range is just silly. Before this, I really liked the Alpine. This is way better though.

i still gotta check out compustar dealer locations. not too many people carry that item. so far im going with the clifford. cuz i can finance that on my car toys cards lol. thanks for your in put!
The Python 881XP unit that i have installed has a built in adjustable Turbo Timer that can be adjusted using a DEI Bit Writer. I believe that the newer high end models should be able to do the same. Clifford, and Viper should be able to do the same with thier high end units also. I think that this is the only Turbo related features that these units support. Hope this info. helps.
