Default Polk Audio DB650 without spacers or mod?

Just ordered 2 pairs Polk Audio DB650 6.5" 2-Way Coxial Speakers

Anyone have these? Will i need to modify anything or use any spacers for them to fit properly?

The window rolled down is only about an inch back inside the hole. Unless you have very shallow speakers I don't see how people are getting by without using a spacer..at least the one that normally comes with the speaker. For people that aren't using any spacer with an aftermarket set, I would question where the window is when rolled down for you..it may be between the magnet and the basket.

Or

I installed my polk separates using the stock speakers as a spacer. It's so easy it's not even funny. It takes about a minute to cut out the old speaker from the basket using diagonal cutting pliers. Then use silicone to seal the speaker to your new spacer and use some to seal up the old wire hole.

you should ge thtem behind the seat, considering i have done ifninity kappas behind there with no problem...

on a side note, DLS ultiamte speakrse are of the very few that can fit int he stock location WITHOUT a spacer or anyhting haha...but then again, i dont put anyhting in that location to begin with

You won't be able to get them behind the seat unless you can get some sort of bracket to hold them - they are too small and there is no brackets included with the speakers. I know because I bought a pair from Circuit City and they did not fit. I returned them and got a pair of Infinity Reference 6012i from Best Buy and they fit perfectly - didn't need the including brackets or anything.

I fit a set of PG Ti Elites using only 1/2" spacer. They work very well too. Too bad PG doesn't make them anymore..too bad PG went so down hill :-(

I wish.. Anyway, they are both very shallow speakers that offer good midbass. Two things we need in the Z.

what kind of speaker depth are we looking at to be able to fit into stock locations? I am looking at a set of Focals that have a 4 inch moutning depth.

I just put them in my car yesterday. Used spacers from CC for the front and the rears fit fine without spacers. I put in the Jensen 9021 about two weeks ago also. It sounds MUCH better now.
